Bob E. Nelson said:An equivalent might be calling ``Midwestern'' a format. That encompasses a location and possibly a culture but I doubt that ``Midwestern'' would characterize a format since everything from farm-oriented KRVN in Lexington, NE to AOR KGGO/Des Moines, IA could be embraced by that term.VERITAS DE VOCE said:Although Tejano or Hispanic is a format. And while I'll engaged in pedantic mode, a few other minor nits:
1). Commercials that call Central Expressway ``I-75''. The interstate designated by that number is far, far from here. It's ``US 75'', a federal highway.
2). Spots (and I hear them all too frequently on WBAP) that verbally express a URL as something like ``www.wbap.com'' BACKSLASH ``mdavis''. The virgule in the URL is a SLASH (``/'') and not a BACKSLASH (``\""). We Unix dweebs and C programmers are all too acutely aware of such little things.
3). The LA and Chicago regionalism of placing an article before the name of freeway in traffic reports. For instance, ``...major backup on THE five'' or ``...45 minute delay on THE Stevenson''. Kudos to Mike Shannon and the others hereabouts, the way it's done in D/FW is more natural and economical, a la ``...construction on LBJ tonight'..
...and so ends pedantic mode (yes, it's always fun at parties). The weekend is coming and I can now get a life!![]()

I was hoping David E would have the insight about what markets Brindis controls and does well in like the ones i already mentioned!

Even if planned, it would take decades. The US75 freeway north of Allen is not up to federal Interstate standards (narrow bridges, etc.). So, no I-45 (or any other designation) can be attached it.rbrucecarter5 said:As for US 75 - it is almost inevitable that it will eventually be designated Interstate 45 and continued to Kansas City - the time saving for trucking is too good to pass up. And if the Disney rumors are true, they will at least need it all the way to Sherman - if not all the way to I-40 to accomodate all the tourist traffic.
Woodall Rogers is used since most people don't know it is Texas Spur 366 as there is only a couple of reassurance shields (and there used to not even be that). As for regionalism - how many times do I hear that bit of freeway between US75 and I-35 referred to as Woodall Rogers - I doubt anybody knows the road number. Or the THE Tom Landry Highway. Or THE George Bush freeway.
My pet peeve is terms like "left center lane" on the traffic reports. Why don't we do something intelligent like number the lanes from the left like Houston traffic does: "stalled car in lane 3" or "lanes 1 and 2 blocked by construction". Less time, less confusing.

and whether it is Tejano, Hispanic,
Spanish, or whatever - its a friggin' foreign language and I don't listen.
So - go ahead and call all non-Spanish formats "anglo" if you want and I got a life, so I won't be offended at all.
