The findings by Mercury Research confirm what Mr. Del Colliano wrote that what listeners value most about radio is the "stuff between the songs" (although not commercials). They value: 1. radio personalities, 2. contests, 3. local connection-the things an MP3 player can't do but only radio can.
And as both sources state, you don't need HD Radio to provide this.

I agree, but I think you totally miss the point of my posts.dbdigital said:700WLW said:

The iBiquity HD radio buzz and interference will stop much sooner if there is an alternate system for the cartel to turn. A system that is truly In Band On Channel. One that does no harm, and utilizes existing bandwidth such as FMeXtra.
Programming has little to do with the technical problem of ridding the dial of jamming and buzz. Rock buzz isn't much different then talk buzz or country buzz. It's still all buzz.
SCA channels have been around for over 50 years. Why not make them digital and prove that iBiquity adjacent channel jamming is unecessary, and undesireable.
Better programming on radio is what we all want, but I would like to be able to hear it without all the new iBiquity interference that makes listening unpleasant. Otherwise all the greatest programming of all time does not matter. People will just listen to interference free new media, and avoid radio. iBuzz is killing radio, so, indeed it may be the "killer app" that the cartel is seeking.
Be careful of what you wish for.
