"Dead Technology Walking"

iBiquity HD is dead. Too complex, expensive, jamming, coverage limited and problematic to survive.
It's time for a better, 2nd generation Hybrid Digital, truely In Band On Channel (IBOC) system that does not trespass or jam your neighbors, is inexpensive, and has the same coverage as the analog stereo signal. HD FMeXtea www.dreinc.com
It is totally compatible with analog and digitally uses the same SCA frequencies in use for over 50 years.
Some may not have been aware that FM has been transmitting additional channels all these years. It is now time to upgrade them to digital. Nothing new or added, just digitally upgraded to higher quality and range, without interference or problems associated with the adjacent channel iBiquity system.

The findings by Mercury Research confirm what Mr. Del Colliano wrote that what listeners value most about radio is the "stuff between the songs" (although not commercials). They value: 1. radio personalities, 2. contests, 3. local connection-the things an MP3 player can't do but only radio can.

And as both sources state, you don't need HD Radio to provide this.

Exactly - just think what could be done with the $200 million, that is being wasted on the HD Radio campaign.

I agree, but I think you totally miss the point of my posts.
The iBiquity HD radio buzz and interference will stop much sooner if there is an alternate system for the cartel to turn. A system that is truly In Band On Channel. One that does no harm, and utilizes existing bandwidth such as FMeXtra.
Programming has little to do with the technical problem of ridding the dial of jamming and buzz. Rock buzz isn't much different then talk buzz or country buzz. It's still all buzz.
SCA channels have been around for over 50 years. Why not make them digital and prove that iBiquity adjacent channel jamming is unecessary, and undesireable.
Better programming on radio is what we all want, but I would like to be able to hear it without all the new iBiquity interference that makes listening unpleasant. Otherwise all the greatest programming of all time does not matter. People will just listen to interference free new media, and avoid radio. iBuzz is killing radio, so, indeed it may be the "killer app" that the cartel is seeking.
Be careful of what you wish for.

I was merely reinforcing what Jerry Del Colliano said in his blog.

But I agree, FMeXtra is a great system. The ease of installation, low cost and transparency with existing analog radios is incredible. It's what a HD Radio should have been.

Maybe Digital Radio Express can work their magic on AM.

The impressions I get, from reading various articles, is that DAB is going to be a failure in the UK and Canada - maybe, the US should take a hint... :) BTW, ElCheapo tried to get this thread moved over to the "Take-It-Outside" Board, by complaining to the Managing Board Editor, telling him the thread was titled, "HD Radio is Dead".

That figures.
Wasn't he one of the HD supporters who was attacking everyone's reading comprehension, because they did not agree with, and believe everything he, the HD supporters, the cartel, and iBiquity claim?
It seems it is a case of blaming others for his own failures.
