Dean & Rog to K-Hits...

Thats complete BS! They are NOT part of the reason KLOL died! Rock 101 was already dying a slow and painful death before they came along. Bad management and programming did that format in.

Agreed.

I would be inclined to include W&J in the "bad programming" category.

Too bad that they Coxed Kevin Charles. Somebody give that man a gig.

Still, as Jay C's comment, thats a matter of personal opinion. W&J's numbers say different.
Yes Kevin didn't deserve that, I hope he lands on his feet soon.
I hope Dean and Rog are allowed to do the show they were doing at the arrow... but I know Cox. They're all about playing it safe.
I got an email from the promotions coordinator at Cox about D & R signing to come to K-Hits today (Im still on their email list from when I worked there) and asked if they would be allowed to continue the same show. She said they would, but I don't think she really knows.

I bought a gun from a man this weekend and he told me the most amazing stories of the old days of radio if only it could happen one more time

Never listen to Scott and Suzie the show is boring. No way I'll listen to Dean and Rog. They don't even fit what 107.5 does. WHAT, are they going to be warm, fuzzy, family friendly, and give me nothing less than 50 minutes of music every hour?

Mary

I don't like Dean & Rog. Just what I want to hear for the umpteenth time "The HOA is Calling About Your Fence! Duh, this is not radio I want to hear.

Maybe the Colonel will want to wake up early?!

Hey Thanks, Snoman! I'd love to do Mornings here in town, but I'd need a partner.

So, just for the sake of discussion, everybody who would you partner me up with? It can be anybody, male or female, alive or dead. From any market, just as long as we know who you're talking about. In other words, none of this..."There was this great guy in Shreveport that I used to listen back in High School." Creativity counts, and remember this is only for fun. Ok?

I couldn't agree more...Kevin Charles is one of the nicest guys I have ever had the opportunity to work with in radio - and this comes on the heels of what Metro did to him after he had been there for approx. 7 years...Although I am still searching for a full time gig, somebody please give KC a full time shot - he deserves it...

Colonel, does this mean that the evenings are slated for syndication, too? I read where Carol Miller, who mans evenings at the CC classic rocker in NY, has inked a syndication deal for her version of "Get The Led Out." Any hints for the Houston market? Come on, we won't tell a soul! ;)

Ya we would'nt want people that passed out cheap sun glasses to crowds on the beach

Best of luck to Kevin Charles. He deserves much better than this.

As for D&R's replacement at Arrow, I predict voicetracking the whole damn station. Or maybe running it in a 'Jack" like manner. The wheels have come off CC's bus and they are in deep doo doo. If W&J make the move to the Arrow, it will be the final nail in the coffin.

Jack was running with a live jock last night.

Certainly better than running with a deceased jock last night. Although, with that format, how could you really tell?

Steve Robison has the 3-7 shift.

*grin*

The breaks we heard sounded pretty good. I didn't catch his name, but I believe it was just after 7 pm. It didn't sound like Steve, but I could be mistaken. Congrats to him, whomever he is. He sounded like he was having fun, and every break wasn't necessarily dedicated to a station liner. It's extra nice that they're starting their stopsets with Donna Mac's promo for live music around town. I know some folks don't want to hear it, but those local elements, along with traffic, weather, and live jocks (as opposed to deceased ones), are making the format sound a lot fresher lately. Good job.

Deceased Jock?
Jack has 2 jocks, Steve Robison and another guy doing evenings, cant remember his name.
Isn't part of the Jack concept about NOT having jocks on the air? I think our new PD doesn't get it.

Who's to say that the Jack format isn't changing in response to the industry giants' push for syndication? I don't know if they're doing the same thing in other markets or not.

Back to the morning show switch, though. Both W&J and Outlaw Dave were mentioned as possibilities for filling in, in the Martiny quote I saw. Wouldn't it be cool if they went ahead and moved both over to the Arrow? With Fixx and Colonel St. James already there, it would be W&J mornings, Fixx middays, OD in the afternoon, and the Colonel back to evenings. KLOL_v2.0/classicrock.Arrow would go a long way toward soothing some of the more disenfranchised rock listeners around town in time for the back leg of the winter concert touring season, and the staff would be firmly in place for all the spring bike rallies, the blood drive, and all those other annual KLOL events. Win/win.
