Debbie Diaz lands at 92.1 in FW

Her full name is Michelle Lee Outlaw and I'm glad to hear she is still on board. She is one of the better sounding ladies on local radio.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad to be back on the air and working at 92.1 (KTFW) right in the heart of Sundance Square!
I'm excited about the new job and challenge. Just want to clarify that Michelle Lee is still very much on board. She is going to be part of the morning show..out and about doing van hits. Remember if you can't pick up the station where you live/work, you can listen online...they are streaming at www.countrylegends921.com.

Glad to hear you're going to be on-air again, Debi!

That station seems like a great place to work. I've been there for a visit and the vibe inside the building is more like those old independently owned stations from back in the day. It's also great to hear about somebody getting HIRED for a change!! And, it couldn't happen to a nicer person.

Isn't that the truth! KFWR & KTFW are awesome! It is so cool to walk by and look in the studio... Maybe in the best downtown in the USA! Just wish the sig was better... KSCS and The Wolf would really have something to worry about if they were full strength!

So, what did happen to Mike Crow and the Morning Crew on 92.1? Anyone? Anyone?

This station is turning into KVIL country and fast. Don't believe me??? Here's the respose I got form the PD when I asked why they were playing so much "schmaltz" the last few months. Makes me sad...

Thanks for taking the time to email with your thoughts on the changes at 92.1 KTFW. It is a business decision made by the owners and managment. Our advertising rates are based on the number of people listening. The change in the music and presentation is more mass
appeal. Your preception is correct in that we are now playing more titles from the 80's and only a few early 90's songs. We still play the legends of the 70's and some 60's..not just every song. The move will leave the hard core country male listener wanting more of the 'real country as you call it" If it were profitable to play only older hard core country ..WBAP...KSCS..the WOLF and every other station in the U.S would be playing country muisic that is 45-60 years old. I am in my mid fifties and like you enjoy the older country..however the owners have to do what is needed to make the station more profitable. Since making the changes our revenue is way up and ratings in the 25-54 year old dempgraphic is up and a large portion of this is female audience...we now have an average of over 137,000 people tuning in every 15 minutes with a major gain in ratings. I am sorry you dislike our product and that we may be loosing you as a listener. I am sure some of the am stations will gain some listeners...but the reality is that we have now and will have a larger audience due the shift in music. Again it is just business...Thanks and I hope you willl tune in from time to time as we still play the older music..just not a steady diet of it. Sam

Another station compromises quality for big bucks........

Just business. Hmmmm, they don't subscribe to Arbitron so who would like to turn them in for quoting data they don't pay for? Their own sales rep told me they don't pay for Arbitron so they don't quote numbers. Who has the phone number? Also, he says the revenue is way up. They only made the change about a month or two ago. Advertisers were that quick to cut loose with the cash? Sounds like another BS letter from management.

If it isn't a story, then it is extremely dissappointing what the listening audience wants to here on the radio...I want 1962 George Jones, 1959 Stonewall Jackson...mix in a little bluegrass and maybe even some folk.

I think we just found out why Mike Crow isn't the PD anymore and why he is gone.

How does an FM with 25k ERP from a 1400 stick expect to be a player in a major market 75 miles away which already has dozens of stations?

Saw that on Jim's site, Mike!
