It's interesting that WQXR, with its classical music format, got 2.2 overall, and has been as high as 2.7 in the past few months.
And its signal is not among the best in the city. Not as good as it was at 96.3.

Some of the listeners probably pick up WQXR via the stronger WNYC-HD2 signal (93.9-2 FM).And its signal is not among the best in the city. Not as good as it was at 96.3.
I doubt that either station will last.
105.9 has a bad signal with WBLI at 106.1 being so close. Many NYC FMs have bad signals because of the proximity to Philly and their first adjacent signals. Overall it's a mess for NYC and Philly stations. And its signal is not among the best in the city. Not as good as it was at 96.3.
Maybe iHeart will offer up The Woody Show to WNYL. It would make sense to have them in New York. Although a logistical nightmare, given that the show originates out of LA..Very surprising, in that Elliot is an iHeartRadio show:
You may be right. KVIL dropped its morning and afternoon shows in mid November, and their ratings increased in the latest book.

If a stream is a 100% simulcast with the broadcast signal, it is eligible for SLR (Single Line Reporting<).The nice WQXR stream might be a key. I'm listening to it now, some 120 miles west-northwest of Carnegie Hall. But I can't find the stream on the ratings list.
Perhaps their stream is also a true simulcast and consolidated with the FM.Yet, since WNYC-FM's numbers also took a nice jump, might there be some gadgetry or confusion involved with the PPM signals ?
I am disappointed that ratings for WFUV and WBGO are so low at 0.4. Both stations provide quality programming with no commercials.
iHM should have kept their original morning show. It was a nice change of pace from the normal morning shows. Music intensive morning shows I think are better. If they do it will be an admission of complete failure on the part of Mike Kaplan.
However Woody seems to have the logistics figured out, because he's on the iHeart station in Philly.
It is great to have WQXR on WNYC HD2 (as 105.9 only puts out 610 watts) and is very weak in Eastern Nassau County, but since WNYC is also not full power, I have more difficulties holding onto HD than the other full power NYC HD stations. On the other hand, I have a directional Radio Shack FM antenna in my attic that provides excellent signal strength on 105.9 at home on all my stereo receivers.I kinda go back and forth about Marcos' suggestion vis-a-vis the WNYC HD 2 having an impact.
On one hand, 93.9 would be one heritage frequency to punch up -- traditionally ideal.
On the other cliche, I doubt that too many listeners to Classical would spend any hi-fi budget money on another (gasp; nose in the air) *radio* only to hear songs that are 200 years old and which they probably have in their collections anyway.
But my Classical 'tastes' go merely to Mozart, Debussy, Gynt and Burt Bach. So what would I know?
I also doubt that the 10-watt WQXR extension speaker across the Hudson from Poughkeepsie on 103.7 is garnering much. But they are 800+ feet up there.

Granted, WNYC, at 415 metres HAAT, is 5200 watts instead of 6000, but WNYC is a full-power station, with a 60 dBu of only about 1.4 km less than the 60 dBus of the best ESB signals. Probably WNYC is not running on maximum power at this time.It is great to have WQXR on WNYC HD2 (as 105.9 only puts out 610 watts) and is very weak in Eastern Nassau County, but since WNYC is also not full power, I have more difficulties holding onto HD than the other full power NYC HD stations. Agreed but the post was about the dramatic ratings decline over a 4 book period. While one could expect a miniscule decline book by book as an ethnic group migrated over to a new genre/format, the dramatic fast decline would not likely be solely for that reason.English dominant or bilingual Hispanics in the younger adult demographics have traditionally been strong users of Urban formats in NYC for decades. However, the evolution of Hispanic urban music, generically called "reggaetón", has become the preferred music for much of that group because it is more culturally linked to them.
Your question is similar to asking why the urban audience migrated to hip hop starting about 40 years ago... things change. In this case, a significant portion of the younger Hispanic population found its own music and migrated to it.
I can see either 94.7 or 92.3 becoming WINS or CBS 880 sadly in 2022. I love Alt but their music mix isn't working. Do I wish NYC had variety in their music? Yeah. Sadly we don't get that.
What rockers are there? We have 1 CHR.94.7 plays hits from a golden age for CHR that no one else can or will play. Also, it just flipped three months ago.
Also, what the F are you talking about with NYC and music variety? You have rhythmic, urban, and Spanish contemporary to go with your ACs, CHRs, and rockers. That's on you if you're dissatisfied with New York radio.
Correct, but we have already discussed the fact that Urban stations can't play a significant percentage of the "hit" urban songs because they have lyric content that makes their broadcast on AM and FM illegal under FCC administrative law.Agreed but the post was about the dramatic ratings decline over a 4 book period. Yep just Z100 the Flamethrower !!We have 1 CHR.

Also 94.7's music is not CHR nor was it CHR it is Classic Hip Hop and R&B.94.7 plays hits from a golden age for CHR that no one else can or will play. Also, it just flipped three months ago.
