Looks like Hot has a new logo too. It is very simple, but I like it.

Interesting that "R&B" was taken out of the positioner. Wonder if Urban titles will be replaced?

Thats been in the process for a long time. KHHT cut out their current rhythmic music (mainly R&B) to foucus on oldies from the 60's 70's 80's and 90's. Now its Southern Cali's Old School. Their ratings are low but still remain at a 2.6 the same for Feb. ratings. KTWV is above them now but Im sure the billing is different. As far as Rick Dees coming to Hot congrats. Rick Dees listeners from his days on KIIS in the 80's and 90's have moved on to KHHT so it makes perfect sense. Why it didnt fly on KMVN who knows that station was lost during its first year. KHHT has a more solid sound and its always rhythmic oldies music.

ended up on a frequency(93.9)with a ill fated format that lasted barely a year.

Movin' 93.9 lasted over two years.

Really, it didn't seem like it was that long, unless you had to listen to it,that format was dead on arrival.

Actually, Movin was starting to catch-on and was trending upward significantly, in it's last 12 months...And Dees was a large part of it!

Not sure the format change was necessarily the best move on the new owner's part??

Actually, KFI on FM isn't an "if" but a "when" situation. It will happen eventually, but probably not on 92.3, although that was the CC's best choice until now.

Now that it won't be KFI-FM on 92.3, then where? ???

Hot 92.3 appears to have become LA's version of "Kiss-FM" (KISQ) in San Francisco, "the Bay's Old School." The two stations even share two of the same (no doubt voice-tracked) DJs - Tony Sandoval and Lisa St. Regis. Those two also track V-101.1 in Sacramento, and perhaps others.

For what it's worth, KISQ has had the same format for almost all of the last 13 years. Last year, for a month or two, they briefly re-branded as "the Beat of the Bay," and added in a lot of 90s hits, and some new music - but it died a quick death.

Where it always has been......AM-640. If they were going to simulcast, the would have done it long ago....

That logo is ugly in my opinion. The old one was way better

According to wiki they're cutting back on their current urban adult contemporary songs and playing more disco title from the 70's. Freestyle titles from the 80's. R&B from the 90's up to 2002. The product that they're mainly playing are from 1970 up to 2002. Wow a 32 year gap. I wish that CC would've fought for KKBT 92.3 The Beat. IMO "The Beat" would've been a strong Urban leaning Rhythmic today. BTW I haven't seen the new logo.

I think you may have been thinking of this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KXOS#MOViN_93.9):

By October 2007 KMVN began to phase out most of its currents and '90s product, along with the mix shows, in an effort to improve the ratings, which had not been spectacular. They also changed their slogan to "The '70s and '80s Mix That Makes You Move," to identify with its gold-based direction.

So one might argue that the music and much of the branding changed, but it wasn't until 2009 that they changed everything and dumped Dees.

Clear Channel had too many FM stations according to the FCC. One had to go and it was 100.3

Wiki is never right anybody can put whatever they want. KMVN started to add 80's New Wave music during the last few months. After that it just morphed into a 80's station. The last rating book KMVN was actually catching up with KCBS and KHHT. Ratings wise it was improving but not good enought for sales and Emmis managment. The 7 year lease with Radio Centro out of Mexico City (which gives them the option to buy the station if the FCC rules change) is bringing in more money not to mention more listeners with their hispanic format. As far as KMVN went it was hard to build up a new audience. KZLA was on the air for more than 20 years and dumping the format for playing the same songs that were burned out by other stations didnt help. Plus we already had KBIG during the time playing the same music without the rap. As far as KHHT goes for Dees maybe a smart move. The listeners are already there so Rick Dees shouldnt have a problem

KISQ has a bit more variety. They have a show called the 80's at 8 that plays alot of New Wave music from Wham and The Eurythmics. No syndicated programing at night which is why I like them. They actually sounded good as Rhythmic AC although it was werid hearing Lady Gaga on the station. The same guy who was the PD at Mega and Movin is now programing KISS and Oldies in the bay area

I was unaware that Wham made any New Wave music. Perhaps that was the Andrew Ridgely contribution?

So is Dees gonna do a Seacrest and do the morning show and then cut it up in pieces for stations that want to air the Dees Daily show?
