Dees to Hot...

los angeles is missing a format it called freestyle and classic house i notice 93.5 kday only playing classic hip hop hardly any dance classics forget power 106 they have to move on with new generation music its probably going to be long time before power 106 ever plays freestyle and classic house. i hope rickdees has mixers in the morning spining freestyle and classic house. and 80's new wave.

KDAY on occasion will play some Freestyle, but only once in a blue moon. The 80's New Wave you can hear on My FM and KROQ, but again, nothing consistent, unless its a specialty show...like a Flashback Lunch or something like it. A station like that would definetly work, but who is gonna go that route? There are no new players to try it. I think these days more than ever, music content is second behind revenue. So unless that format brings in Millions upon Millions, its doubtfull anyone will change whats been established already. JMHO

KDAY plays freestyle in rotation with their classic R&B/Hip Hop tracks too. Heck I even hear daft punk's song called "Around The World" from 1996-97 that's classic house music too. People said that KDAY should be playing no house music from back in the day. KDAY is trying take us back to the days of the early Power 106 by playing house music. Plus it brings us back to the days of "The Beat" by playing 90's up to mid 00's hip hop & R&B.

you're kidding....right? bring in a high-profile morning talent (at high-profile morning talent dollars)
and then not use that talent 100% of the morning show? unknown music in music drive? really?

Movin did it mostly on Friday mornings when Rick Dee's was on at the time. The Freestyle mix fits perfect with KMVN format but not KHHT. You have to remeber KHHT has to focus on its Rhythmic Oldies AC format. Mixing it up can have repercussions. KHHT has a solid sound for over 10 years

For what it's worth, Dees will be a guest on a new local show hosted by Colleen Williams on KNBC's subchannel 4.2 (formally home to KNBC's weather loop and News Raw) tonight Wednesday, May 5th. Your mileage will vary where to find it on your cable/sat. I don't know what the program is called, it just started yesterday but it airs 7pm-8pm.
