defunct boston stations that need another chance???

How's about this:
WJIB at 96.9?
WLYN(the old AM & FM) in Lynn. I miss Anna & Tony Pace's Italian show.
WJDA's full service format, but only if it's around the clock. (We can have ethnic shows on there, too. Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, etc.)
And definitely the pre-Radio One WILD(on FM and the Internet), but only if they go 24/7/365. (Get rid of Tom Joyner and Brother Andre!)
How's about bringing "Steven Horatio Coleman" back?
And while we're at it, let's bring back "Your Mother Should Know" and Professor Quiz's Quizzical Quiz Questions! (I miss the J & S Smoke Shop commercials)
WUNR's "Super 16" at its original overnight format: 11:45 p.m. until 4 or 5 a.m. every night of the week.
How's about "The Ruach Hour?" I miss that and Joy Berger!
We can't bring Wolfman Jack from the dead, but how about someone stepping into his shoes?
The original WMEX(but only on a full time 50,000 AM or FM transmitter or online!)
To be continued...

WJIB at 96.9: "Ding ding! Ding ding! Ding!"

>>"Help I'm A Rock"
WLYN at one point had Rich Anzalone playing alternative rock on both the AM and FM sides
(later the Phoenix would buy the FM, of course) and you'd be hearing Mission of Burma's
"That's When I Reach For My Revolver" on AM 1360. (Uncommon to hear stuff like that on AM,
though Dartmouth used to have a station on 1340 doing things like that. Reggae on AM as I cross
the border into VT...)

Speaking for Jeff, who isn't here in the studio today, I would be happy to sell the Pace family time if they want to do a show and at a competitive rate!!!

They could do it live, or pre record it!

When I first started here in 2004, we had a Greek program live on Sunday mornings, Oscar was the host, and he was a great guy to work with!

The closest we have had to Italian up until recently was the Nick Franciosa Show on Sundays, but Nick is on hiatus at the moment.

Holy Crap! I thought I was the last living human who remembered that show. That's where I was on the air for the first time in 80 or 81. Ended up hanging out at WUNR and WBOS for almost a year. Norm Ruby was terrific.

Anybody remember WTTK 100.7 Progressive Country? Approx. 1977

Certainly do...TK-101...Theys signed on in October, 1976 and were adding staff, building new studios and getting ready to go live full time against WCOZ, WBCN and WAAF when they were abruptly sold in late 1977. After that...they lingered in automation mode through the end of 1978...

WNTN Progressive Rock days 1969(?)-1971

WNTN-"Your AM Alternative" actually lasted from the begining of 1970, until mid-January, 1976...doing a better progressive rock format more consistantly than WBCN on the AM band, in my opinion in those days. They were sold right around the time that WCOZ began to Rock, in the summer of 1975...

WBOS when it was country in the mid 80's
WBCS 96.9 (before merging with WKLB and moving to 99.5 and 102.5)
WMRQ 103.3 (again in the late 80s)
WCOP 1150 in the early-mid 70s as a country station
WACQ 1150 Top 40 in the late 70s

WMRQ? ARE YOU KIDDING?
WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT THE DAWG THAT RUINED WHTT?

Sorry, no. WMRQ Boston needs to stay hidden in infamy and obscurity forever.

imho.

Damn! You beat me to it! It's amazing how an AM daytimer could spawn so many major people in the radio and record industry. Steven Hill; Elroy Smith; Ken Johnson; Dana Hall; Pebbles; Free; plus a ton more people still doing things on the air and behind the scenes. If you sell the lifestyle of the upscale, upwardly mobile Urban professional, and not the ratings, it would do as well as WFNX…

Let's see.....

WRKO-FM 98.5 (R-KO matic!, 1966-1968)
WROR 98.5 ("Hit Parade", "Solid Gold Rock and Roll" and "The Golden Great 98!")
WCOP-FM 100.7 "Total Gold 101" (Drake/Chenault Oldies, 1973-1974)
WVBF 105.7 ("EEEEEEEE-lectronic MAMA!")
WCGY 93.7 ("Blue Suede Radio", oldies)
WPRO-FM 92.3 ("F-M PRO........ F-M!!!")

Guess I'm somewhat "retro"! :)

How about WSSH? Jordan Rich was a great morning man flying solo and still witty and fun to listen to. They had some pretty good talent there for awhile between 85 and 95 before it flipped to Smooth Jazz.

How about JB 105 in Providence?!

That would be one of my top choices, BUT... the subject is defunct BOSTON stations! ;D
