Not to be snide, but the intense interest in KFRC and Oldies radio, and the general lack of interest in any other topics, has to say something about the demographics of this board's readership...

Just sayin'...

Eeyyyy? What did ya say, sonny? I can't read your tiny font and I can't find my reading spectacles. That's the problem with you folks in the younger generation...no respect for your elders! Damn whipersnappers! Why, when I was your age, they hadn't even invented "oldies" yet...

Hang on. It takes a moment for me to read this computer TV screen using my magnifying glass. Can you type bigger next time?

...And I just had to take a break while the nurse changed my Depend® adult diaper. We're having creamed cauliflower with the broiled chicken for dinner, then a few of the fellas and I have the big checkers tournament tonight!

Not to be snide, but* I think it speaks more to the passion and interest of the people who hang out here, rather than the age.

The demographic for radio is trending older, because the people who run the stations have largely killed it off as an entertainment medium for younger people ... and then blamed iPods and other devices for being the reason young people don't listen to radio.

We're old, dammit, and we still know how to use a radio!!!

Actually, there have been plenty of other S.F. radio discussions besides KFRC.

And watch out for that demo comment Sonny! I'm sittin' here (in my rocker) listening to my mp3 player as I type. ;D

Hey Zeb! Come back to Ca and show us some real programming.

I'm as elderly as you, but don't have the interest many here do in the finer (read: smaller, not better) points of KFRC and its many incarnations, signals, towers, plates, grids, chains, tweaks, or local legends. But I do enjoy the occasional Turtles or Tin Tin, and its fun running across the like from time to time delivered on whatever truck they might take.

Ever get back west for a visit?

Ah, the Commodore 64! I occasionally erase some great old radio recordings when I save my C64 code on cassettes that aren't labelled...

Funny. That one made me laugh so hard I pert near spit up into my beer. Thanks, Zeb - for starting one of the most entertaining threads here in a long time on sfgeezers.com.

What you don't realize heydumbass...uh...can I call you "dumbass" for short, or do you prefer the more formal "heydumbass?"

Anyway...what you don't realize is that most of the topics you mention have been talked about many times here. What more could you say about Savage? He's an over-the-top hate-monger. Did you ever see the Buck Henry SNL skit (yes, I know, that dates me, too) where he plays a talkradio host trying to get people to call in? Nobody is calling, so he keeps saying things that are more and more outrageous and hateful, but still, nobody calls. That's the Savage Weiner.

Wild 94.9? If any one topic has been talked about here more than KFRC - its Wild, starting a few years back during the Doghouse Deathwatch when Elvis and JV were committing self-destructive career suicide on a daily basis...then a couple years of jilted Doghouse fans pining away like scorned lovers for their missing shock-jocks.

Yes - there are a lot of stations that rarely get talked about here - Alice, Live 105, KMEL, Kiss-FM, KBLX, etc. The reason is- other than some occasional format tweaking, they've remained primarily the same for years, and there's not much to talk about...except when they fire people, and talking about that gets depressing

Funny. That one made me laugh so hard I pert near spit up into my beer. Thanks, Zeb - for starting one of the most entertaining threads here in a long time on sfgeezers.com.

thanks grampy...that's why they pay me the small bucks to talk on that there radio here in saca-menny...

"Sacamenny?" Isn't that the capital of Califor-ni-yay?

I hate to play the straight man here, but I'd like to point out that the last KFRC thread covered multiple tangents which really had little to do with the original thread. One needs to look beyond the subject thread and read the content. I do think the SF board users are guilty of laziness in not starting a new thread at times, but starting new topics are sometimes more difficult than flowing with the energy of the one everyone has dogpiled.

And while some of the participants on this board may use Pepsodent, I still have all my teeth, have a Facebook page and an iPod too. But I still think AM is cool, so that probably cancels everything out.

Ass,

You owe me $50. I'm on Facebook, Myspace, LinkedIn, have a channel on YouTube, multiple blogs...

And I'm older than a lot of the gas passers that hang out here.

You can make the check out to "Bay Area Radio Museum." We can certainly use a few donations.

I'm only a week old in this Radio-Info Board, and am truly enjoying all the comments, but,
for those who don’t like the constant talk about any one station, think of it this way,
this is our "12 step program" and we need to talk with our group to become better older
citizens, and embrace the future we so reluctantly want to do! (just kidding)

Seriously, when something is or was good, why not remember it? KFRC is one for me that
I have fond memories, even way down here in Santa Cruz. Give it a few more days and
something new will come together.

Wrong! A recent post talks about the Oakland A's moving to 50,000-gallon 860, KTRB,
along with other programming changes there. Not bad for a station with near-zero ratings, too:

Weekend jocks and jockettes? You mean they still exist??!!??

heydumbass said:
8: what's the worst ad on the air right now

I'm not sure, but most "snake-oil-salesmen" spots would be applicable...

Geico spots are getting plentiful on KCBS 740/106.9 drive time...a promo or commercial every three minutes...
I'm exaggerating, but only slightly...

We're waiting for SOMETHING in the biz to ac-cen-tu-ate the pos-i-tive

I seem to see many Wild (KYLD) threads...but those threads do not feature the spunk of
frustration that the KFRC threads do, such as the one with over 4,400 responses. Whew!...

I'm with you, sloux (pron. slough?), as I repeat my oft-used mantra:
"I never left AM radio, AM Radio left me"...

I do NOT use Pepsodent, but I have yet to try those whitening-strips, though...

Mike, I could not have said it any better...
At least we've finally gotten the "KYA 1260" thought-process out of our system...

To wit, quoting the long-forgotten KUIC deejay of the early-1980s, Steve Hansen, from the
KNBA 1190 sign-offs in 1983:
"Live for today, by remembering Yesterday, And THINK ABOUT TOMORROW......."

I lost my train of thought...

Maybe it's from all the replies to all the quotes...OR...
