Dennis Miller

Currently during the evening, WPHT is live and local.

Which raises the question, "Is the live and local guy very good"? A good live and local guy is a good thing, a bad live and local guy is a bad thing. There's nothing magical about being live and local. A second-rate host doesn't get extra points just for being local. If the live and local guy isn't very good, then Miller should be an improvement.

The 8-10 guy kind of sucks... Mazzarelli, a doctor of something or another. Seems they could stay live/local (GOOD live/local) by extending the better shows an hour, or at least Dom from 8-11.

>>Nazi radio WIND

As far as I know the Nazis own no stations in the USA, not even the Nazis led by Henry Gibson in
"The Blues Brothers" ("I hate Illinois Nazis" said Joliet Jake shortly before the Bluesmobile forced
the Nazi marchers over a bridge into a river). Nazi=National _Socialist_ (leftist, though some feel
it describes the Right)

Wouldn't a talk show (like Jay Severin last year) on WPHT be frequently pre-empted by a certain
National League East baseball team...? Or did they move to another station...?

Just as an aside, the word "Socialist" within the name of the National Socialist Worker's Party is a classic example of a misnomer. It's an example of using a word that means one thing to convey a different impression. Another example is liberal talk show hosts calling themselves "progressive".

Agreed.

You should also mention that WJR, is also NAZI radio.

Hopefully, WCPT will get FCC approval, to broadcast at 50,000 Watts, all day, all night, is non-directional, and has three patterns...

Come on guys can we try to be realistic. Stephanie Miller, according to her shows Wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Stephanie_Miller_Show) has about 50 affiliates and WW1 is going all out to get clearances for Dennis Miller. So he will probably open with more than 50 affiliates. The number of conservative talkers available for clearances for D. Miller far trumps the number of liberal talkers for S. Miller. Politically D. Miller is not inline with his target audience and it may rub his stations' listeners the wrong way, so how this all will work is up in the air. Please ignore this actual discussion of radio and get back to your inane left vs. right babble.

Nailed it.

Miller To Debut On 80+ Stations Nationwide
Westwood One has announced that for its March 26th debut, the “Dennis Miller Show” will air on more than 80 stations nationwide, in seven of the top 10 markets including: KRLA-AM Los Angeles, WIND-AM Chicago, WNTP-AM Philadelphia, KNEW-AM San Francisco, KSKY-AM Dallas, WDTK-AM Detroit and KTRH-AM Houston.

Keep dreaming. On both your pathetic (and for that matter, incendiary) hate-speech and your pipe dream with WCPT.

To get WCPT to even broadcast with a night signal, first buy KOA/Denver from CC (no chance in the world) and poach their clear-channel omnidirectional signal. (WLIB/NY got away with the WOWO reduction because WOWO had a three-tower, directional 50kW signal... KOA only needs one tower.) Plus, the feds gave KOA that powerful clear-channel signal - along with 30 other stations around the country, such as WGN, WLS, WBBM and WSCR (formerly WMAQ) in Chicago. Best needed in times of emergency.

Plus, to the east, the 850 freq. is occupied by Good Karma's WKNR/Cleveland (50 kW-day/4.7kW-night), Forever's WNTJ/Johnstown (10 kw-d/n with a nine-tower array), and Entercom's WEEI/Boston (50kw full-time). Impossible - you think either one of those station would want to cede any part of THEIR signal? They'd laugh you out of the room!

WCPT could get a modest upgrade for the dayside, given the use of adjacent channels nearby, but it will stay as it is perpetually. Thank you and good night.

Anyone know if any stations are streaming Dennis Miller? The Westwood One site says it is but I get a recording saying "Real media is not available for this file" even though it says "listen live"

Note: just checked KRLA and WIND sites. They do streamcast but won't carry Miller live. Ingraham on instead.
Whether they can stream his show or not--W1 may not want them too--I don't know.

It starts today in many cities but many stations will air him on tape delay WIND Chicago KRLA L.A.

starting next week the 93.7 in Dennis' home town of Pittsburgh will carry him

"Isn't it ironic we're putting pork into a bill for funding a war on _Islam_"?

Dennis Miller attacked so far:

John Murtha, Sean Penn

So, he's going for the easy targets first.

did a little site searches and found he's on:

WIND-AM 560 Chicago noon-2 pm Central
WNTP-AM 990 Philadelphia 9-midnight Eastern
KNEW-AM San Francisco
KSKY-AM 660 Dallas 8 pm Central
WDTK-AM 1400 Detroit 6pm Eastern
KTRH-AM 740 Houston 8 pm Central
KRLA Los Angeles 9-midnight Pacific I think
93.7 Pittsburgh (next week)

also WARK Hagerstown MD/DC area I think

I think he sounds great!!!

I think Dennis Miller is boring, too many interviews.

This show will fail, it's not like Mike Malloy.

Clearly our political views are showing...maybe he will do less interviews as the show goes on.
I didn't think it was boring and it was fun to hear him talk with Dana Carvey. SNL's second
personality to start a radio talk show, and DM's voice a lot easier to take than the now-running
-for-Senate Franken ("Fred Silverman's limo for the lame-o")
