Detroit Lions Fans Protest Nickelback Thanskgiving Halftime Performance

I suppose they could get the cast of Hardcore Pawn to be the half-time entertainment. The father can yell and scream insutls at the audience and rip them off.
Neither Fox or the NFL would ever go for it. HP is a TruTV show. Why would Fox promote a show on a Time-Warner owned network (Who also owns CNN) ??

As for the NFL, they wouldn't be the least bit interested

JMO.....

Cheers & 73 ;D

This is why it's really tough for radio and TV to do things with music. It was stuff like this that caused MTV to stop playing music videos, because rap fans would attack boy band fans. You get rabid anti-whoever fans who will start hate boards about something. And then Rolling Stone comes along and agrees with it, ignoring the fact that every half-baked artist who has ever lived near Detroit has already done this gig. I even remember when an early cast-off from American Idol played this game because he was from the area.

Whatever happened to enjoying music, regardless of where it was from? Did people start hate pages about The Beatles because they were from England? Come on! It's just the halftime show! How much of it actually gets on TV? Don't they just cover it up with commercials? No one is going to associate the halftime band with the city. They're going to associate a terrible football team with the city.

Let me get this straight, one guy starts a petition on facebook and suddenly "Detroit fans" are "angry" about the selection of Nickelback? Maybe there is a contingent of fans upset about this, but seriously.. do many Detroit fans care? This looks all the world to me like media outside the city blowing a story way out of proportion. It's easy for Rolling Stone or others to pick up on a facebook petition and declare that lots of fans in Detroit are upset about this. The reality may be that it's just one guy and no one else thought much about it until he brought it up. I have no idea how many people have "signed" this petition, but there's not assurance many or most of them are even Detroit lions fans.

What a ridiculous story.

That being said, does the guy who even started the petition live in the Detroit / Windsor area? Or in Michigan, for that matter? Reminds me of a time I found an online petition urging then-President George W. Bush to ban anime from the United States, due to it being immoral, except that the person who created the petition lives in Canada, automatically destroying any legitimacy.

Each year, the NFL rotates one AFC team visiting Dallas and Detroit (both NFC team cities). And the Lions game is usually played at 12:30 PM followed by the Cowboys game later on. Since both the Packers and the Lions are NFC teams, that means it will be a Fox game, and WBTV and all of the rest of the CBS stations will carry Miami at Dallas at 4 PM! So get ready for a dark parade! :D
Not if the parade is at 1:00 PM ET.....

Cheers & 73 ;D
Yeah, and not only won't it be dark when the parade airs, it won't be dark when they actually have the parade, whenever that is.

Going by the present rotation, CBS will be in Detroit next year, with the Lions hosting either Houston or Indianapolis. :p
