Detroit Radio Legend Retiring

JJ Johnson was the host of the well known JJ and The Morning Crew, which was on numerous rock stations in Detroit. W4, Wheelz and WCSX up until November 2008, when him and his crew got canned for Deminski & Doyle, which was a complete abortion. They got fired after only a year.
 
i'm sure there will be alot of radio people in Detroit(especially within the walls of cbs there) to replace Purtan, but i wouldn't want to follow him. who will be the 1st "Sacraficial Lamb", who will be the "Substitute Teacher" the kids throw the paper wads at? to those vying to replace him, be careful what you wish for.

I say ask the man himself! "Who would you like to see fill your shoes?" Then bring the successor in during Purtan's show...ease into it and then Dick rides off into the sunset.

you won't see them do that. a good bet is that they will bring in a "Format Jock" to play lots of music and shut up., and bank the savings for awhile, until they figure out what to do.
 
It should be a clean break, and a good jock to play the tunes like at CBS-FM will be what happens. Didn't Scott Miller do mornings at WJMK Chicago at one point? When Purtan left CKLW, they gave the show to sidekick Tom Ryan
