I had the chance to work with Dick for the past 5 years. I have great respect for him and I enjoyed the many talks we had in the studio that covered many, many subjects. He's a true friend. A genuine talent that won't be on the bricks for long.
Farewell 'ol buddy and 'keep on rockin'!!!
peace

XL102 did this back in 2001, the station later went down the tubes FAST(although IMO, it was dead before that point). Dick Hungate is a FIXTURE in Richmond Radio. I am NO LONGER listening to the planet due to this move. Syndicated Morning drive shows are one thing for here, but VTing in the middle of the day, just as a excuse to save money, sorry but that is NOT the way to keep what is more important, LISTENERS and products they use because of the ads on the radio.

Dick, I can remember back when he was working at WRXL, a great class act in my view. Just as with Jeff Beck, Tara Hunter, Lark Logan, Brian Illes, Jeff McKee, Rik Maybee, Lucas Foxx and others who worked there in the past during the 80's and 90's...blessed with a LOT of musical knowledge as well as being a class act and treating the listeners like a guest in their home. Dick, wherever the road takes you next, wether it be here in Richmond still or elsewhere, I wish you the best, thanks for being in Richmond sir, it has been a honor and a pleasure.

"A desire to cut fixed costs".Man oh man,I thought I'd heard 'em all.My only question with this "creative manure shoveling",is that that managers seem to enjoy engaging in with these little "polite expressions" instead of just coming and saying what they REALLY want to say,"--we just don't want to pay you anymore because we're cheapskates".That's essentially what it is isn't it? It's just like when Warner Brothers dropped Bonnie Raitt in the early 80s,and just a few years later she signs with Capitol and comes back and bites 'em in the ass with a million selling Multi-Grammy award winning album, and several hits after that.Don't tell that somebody at Warner didn't see that and say "Who was the idiot that decided to drop her off the label? I want his head!"
