Back in the old days (the 80's), when I was on 94Q, Dick's son used to play in a band featured at the old Timothy John's just outside the perimeter on Roswell Road. I'd sometimes host promotional nights at TJ's for 94Q, and Dick was often there showing family support. He was the competitor's General Manager, 96 Rock, yet was always amazingly gracious, friendly, and nice to me, every time he saw me. That lesson stuck with me. Back then, the attitude was much more "kill the competition" than it is today, in this time of sometimes multiple competitors sharing studio space and working for the same company because of consolidation. Yet there he was, buying me drinks! Wow.
Dick stood out because of his down-to-earth nature and his big heart. My condolences to the family.
