Did anyone catch the new WOGL morning show today?

Not so good to be honest. This is NOT a critique on either Glenn Kalina or Marilyn Russell but there was no life to that show. Just seemed like they were reading off of cards and all the personality was taken out of it. Plus, same old boring song selections. This could have been way better like how 80's morning radio sounded especially during the Hot Hits era. Just my two cents worth.

Didn’t catch it today, but hoping to sometime soon.

One initial though going into that: though bringing back a familiar name is one thing, trying to recreate the overall style is a different one. 98 may be playing the same music (give or take of course) as it did in the hot hits days. But it doesn’t sound like it did outside the music, and I’m not sure it would make sense to try. The audience may in marge measure have grown up with 98 or its peers, but that doesn’t mean enough want to hear the same presentation, just some of the same music.

If the rest of the day is tailored to the more traditional classic hits style, a glaringly different morning show might not work. I mean, Ross Brittan didn’t do the same style on 98 that he did on Eagle. Don Cannon wasn’t even replicating Cannon & Company by the time he arrived there.

Geez. Give the poor fellow a chance.

New station, new co-host, new format.

You read off the cards until you and your co-host develop some chemistry.

Now, I'm still unhappy that they've become a not-so-oldies station, but that's another post.

They have tampered with morning drive a lot since blowing up the Breakfast Club in 2017... Lario, Kalina, anonymous producers. Does Marilyn solo not do well in the target demo?

Even as a PD, I would not listen to the first day of a new show. And I'd tell them that: "I won't be listening or recording. It's hard enough to learn the new studio and the format without thinking the PD is going to land hard on any mistake".

So, yeah, give him a chance.

LITERALLY a new studio. Didn't WOGL move into 2400 Market on Glenn's first day?
