Digal radio rules, Dude

Not so fast. I wasn't criticizing OPINIONS. I was criticizing the MISREPRESENTATION of opinions, and other information linked to.

My opinions are, of course, just that. My opinions. But when you click on a link of mine, it goes where I tell you it does, and says what I say it did. I may link to the opinions, and conclusions of others, but I try never to misrepresent them in any way. Everybody's human, I won't guarantee that I've never done so, but I can guarantee that I've never done it deliberately. THAT is the difference!

Can anybody really actually win this debate, one way or another, in any way other than in his or her own mind? Is this an issue we can agree to disagree on? I enjoy the intelligent debate on this board very much. However, the venom gets old, and I've only been paying attention for a few days.

Oh, and what are the chances that out of the relatively small number of people who participate here, there are no less than three pilot certificates? Small world. Nobody ever says "Mooneys suck and you are an idiot because you fly one", so why do we, in essance, say "HD Radio sucks and you are an idiot if you believe in it"?

Excellent point broker. But how would you feel if you were constantly told that your plane, the one that gets you where you're going, and returns you safely was a "hoax" a "fraud", or "defective technology", when in fact it "got you where you were going" to mix a metaphor, every time you listened?

Analog FM stereo is up to TWENTY DB NOISIER than mono, covers vastly less distance, and is much more prone to multipath interference. Isn't THAT "defective technology"?

Wise words.

You know, I'd feel the same way I feel when someone says "I don't like your radio station because it sucks." It kinda ticks me off. But on the other hand, you can't be everything to everybody. I have heard people on this and other boards railing against "Radio" because there are commercials, news and other kinds of clutter and it doesn't have the fidelity of my IPOD.

Now "I" know that radio is not designed to be just a jukebox. And the next time an IPOD surprises you with a song you haven't thought about in 5 years will be the first.

I know you can listen to my station all day and know more at the end of the day than when you started. And I like that. And so does my audience. The person that says it Sucks is looking for something we aren't trying to provide. Do their comments bother me? Yes. Are they entitled to their opinion? Also yes.

I'm not sure either is defective. Then again, on the station I work at we don't play music. I'm sure some would call the programming "Defective".

What is it that Patrick Swayze says in "Roadhouse"? Opinions vary.

Indeed they do

I also don't think either is "defective" Clouseau. I was merely trying to illustrate my point...that ALL of the criticisms leveled at HD (restricted coverage area, less reliability at a distance, need for a decent antenna) apply to analog fm stereo in equal measure. PLUS HD doesn't get progressively noisy as signal levels decrease (not so with analog fm stereo). You either get 96db dynamic range and vanishingly low distortion, or you get...FM (usually mono...I can't find a single station that is clean in stereo when the HD fails).
