Marv-L.A. said:I know of at last three local radio stations (KKGO/LA & KBIG/LA, as well as nearby KFRG/Riverside) that play heir music these days. KEEY is easily the #1 major-market country station in America based on local ratings, although there are several stations in larger cities with higher cume figures, with KKBQ/Houston leading the way, and KKGO not too far behind.
I've had to flip the dial many times from KBIG when the first few notes of "Landslide" have started playing on my radio... pales so much in comparion to Fleetwood Mac's original. Thankfully, they finally stopped playing that gawd-awful "Not Ready To Make Nice" song about six months ago - it apparently didn't call out well there. Now speaking of REAL Country music on KBIG, they've actually started playing Darius Rucker's "Don't Think I Don't Think About It"... it's nice they seem to be opening their eyes to new music - 6 months ago, they were still afraid to add new songs.
I have not heard them on KKGO in quite a long time... just checking their daily post-Christmas song longs on yes.com and am stilll not finding them anywhere. KKGO originally stopped playing them entirely around April... Paul Freeman then attempted to get them back on during the early summer...he routinelely tried to run them down the listener's throats during PM drive 2-3x or more a week for a good month and apparently there was some sort of listener backlash as it's been a good 4 months now since I heard them there...
As for KFRG, I don't know for sure... they're just outside of my listening area - if I lived 5-10 miles south I'd be able to hear them. They haven't played them today yet...
