I was in the military in Alaska during that time, but yes it was around 1979. I remember reading in Billboard that it was to be a "true top 40", which I took to mean playing more of that Billboard had in its top 40 of the Hot 100; but from what I understand, it was basically a disco-leaning CHR. Am I right?
