WDJO Streaming Problem

Oddly enough, it's not working for me in WinAmp, either as a direct link from that URL, or from the WDJO website (same m3u file). Or, if I paste it into Open URL in WinAmp.

However, it DOES work under "Open URL" if you manually paste it into that box in Windows Media Player.

This is not something I usually see, usually it's the other way around!

It sounds good once you hear it.

Works fine for me in WinAmp. I downloaded the m3u file and douple clicked on that to add it to the playlist. Also, I aded the link to replay AV. Haven't tried it yet, but it should work. BTW, any chance they'll offer a higher bit rate stream for broadband users?

Nope, that didn't work for me in WinAmp either. It comes up (in all cases) with an [HTTP/1.1 200 OK] message, but no audio, then eventually says [TIMED OUT] after about 15 seconds or so.

As mentioned, the URL copy/pasted into Windows Media Player 10's "Open URL" dialog works fine, so I know there's a stream there.

Also works in iTunes (at least for Windows). Go to the "Advanced" menu, select "Open Stream", and add the URL into the box.<P ID="signature">______________

Great, let's just hope that they figure out the "Timed Out" error with WinAmp. :D

Just so you know OA, I am having the same issue with Winamp, so I don't think it's something wrong on your end.

Looks like their using some different streaming server not standard shoutcast =/ If you go to:

http://63.210.232.202:8000/ in a browser instead of http://63.210.232.202:8000/wdjo you get some linux/darwin header stuff with bad request.

Looks like winamp don't like playing this type of mp3 32k link :( it seems to just choke on it.

WDJO? Fix this?

Don't we have like 20 people on this board who either have some connection to WDJO, or know someone there, or who stalk the place? ;)

Can we get this message to them, to fix the WinAmp problem?

WDJO Streaming Problem

Hi Folks - I recently got made aware of this info board, so from now on, we'll try to stay up with any issues you are having.

First, the Winamp issue. This seems to be varied (as usual), we have it running on both Win2K and XP here, and it works fine. I suspect you might have a file associations problem. Experience tells us this happens after someone has installed RealPlayer. Often the default application gets "hijacked" by a later install, so that might have caused the problem. Also, older versions seem to have some problem. We've temporarily added a link for Winamp users, please try this.....

Also, this link discussed problems with applications hijacking the mp3 stream, perhaps it will help.....
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=51026

One of the listeners is right - we are not using Shoutcast servers, but that really shouldn't effect your ability to open the streams. Shortly, we'll be broadcasting in alternative formats as well as mp3, so stay tuned for that.

Based on the input from the forum, we've raised the bandwidth to 32K, and changed the feed point for the signal to improve the frequency response.

The new website is coming, and I think you'll find it a trip down "memory" lane. Quite unlike any of the sites we've seen - but suggestions are always welcome.

Please let me know if you are still running into these issues, and please remember, the current interface is just temporary.

Thanks again for taking the time to listen- hang in there!

Regards,
Webmaster WDJO

Re: WDJO Streaming Problem

I found out if I use the Thompson Mp3pro plug-in for Winamp the WDJO stream will play. You can get it at http://www.mp3prozone.com/download_winamp.htm

BUT you will have to go into your winamp preferances-input menu and uncheck it off if you want to listen to ACC+ streams or edit Mp3 Id3 tags while they are playing.

This is the only station I know of that Nullsoft's Mp3 decoder will not work on. BTW the stream sounds great.

Thanks for the input - odd that you have to disable the ACC+ streams or make any changes to tag editing though. We'll keep looking at this. FYI - the server is designed to cast mp3's and/or AAC streams simultaneously. Perhaps we are generating some other header information that confuses some versions of Winamp....again, thanks for the input.
We've just made some changes to the audio feed, so we'll keep working to improve that as well.

Fixing WDJO's Streaming

> We've just made some changes to the audio feed, so we'll

First, Bob, thanks for showing up here! I was being a little facetious earlier when I noted that roughly 20 people somehow associated with WDJO were on this board, but I'm glad you're here :)

I also installed the MP3Pro plug-in referred to in the earlier message, and the WDJO stream now works in WinAmp, even from the first link.

The second "WinAmp" link, for whatever reason, brings up a text playlist file in Firefox 1.5, but brings up WinAmp in IE 6.0. The stream still wouldn't play even on the "WinAmp" link until I installed that MP3Pro plugin. As far as the Firefox thing, I'm not altogether sure that isn't a configuration issue on my end, but I've seen it before.

So, I suspect you guys are either A) sending out an MP3Pro-format stream and don't know it, or B) your header information is indicating that you are. Either way, the "WinAmp" link doesn't really DO anything different right now for those who do not have the plug-in. (BTW, I have whatever the latest version of WinAmp is. It bugs you rather mercilessly to download updates. :D)

Thank you for working on this, and the stream sounds great!

Hey,
THe link has always worked fine for me, but then I already had the mp3PRO plug-in. It also works fine in Replay AV 7. I've been albe to catch Dusty Rhodes for later listening the past couple days. I'll probably also starting airchecking Cool Bobby B's show once I know the time, as well as the Music Magazine if and when that starts.

BTW, any chance of a high speed stream for broadband users at some point?

REaly enjoying the station. Keep up the great work.

There's something wrong or missing in your header info thats keeping the Nullsoft decoder from working. When I use the Mp3pro plugin with Winamp, I only see the http URL info in the Winamp window instead of WDJO.

As for the Mp3pro plug-in, those are the only "bugs" I found while using the plug in. I use it to listen to my Live365 stations in better quality. WLNG in Sag Harbor uses Mp3pro to stream at 32kbps in 44khz mono audio.

ACC+ works very well, sounds great at 24k but its a new format and theres not many media player programs outside of Winamp 5 that can play it yet.

What program are you using to stream? I have only done experimental broadcasting with the Shoutcast plug-in and server with Winamp. BTW Im using the latest version of Winamp 5.21.

Re: WDJO Streaming Problem

I have been able to use Windows Media Player for WDJO and it sounds great. I am really enjoying the station, songs are not being beaten to death, as on the FM dial. I would love to see a increased rate of speed for broadband users, as I have a download speed of 5.0mbps and 630 of upload speed thru Cincinnati Bell Zoomtown.
