Do kids really like oldies?

I don't love it that much. It plays some good songs. But I've posted enough information that telling people what station it is could make it possible for someone to put together all the details and figure out exactly where I live.
You live within range of a Charlotte -- no, make that a Charlotte AREA -- radio station. I'm sorry. There are 2.8 million people in the Charlotte metro, and who knows how many more on the fringes. Someone can tell exactly where you live based on that info? Let's give it a try.

OK, I've Googled "Charlotte suburbs,"and the first one that came up was Davidson. I then called up a Google map and picked a street in Davidson. OK, let's say Concord Road. Now, where on Concord Road in Davidson might Chimp live? Well, the first three letters in Chimp are CHI, alphabetically 389. Got it! You live at 389 Concord Road, Davidson, North Carolina! Am I right? No? Am I close? No? Well, geez, now I'll have to find another suburb to search. Fort Mill, South Carolina ... hmmmm.

Chimp is what I called the music director at one Charlotte station. The format change happened twenty-seven years ago yesterday. Or maybe today.

I think you overestimate two things, Chimp. First, that people can put bits and pieces of dozens of posts together and somehow figure out your street address ... and second, that anyone cares where you live. I certainly don't have any use for that information.

But I still think it would be nice to know the call letters of this station that you rave about so much.

I didn't rave about it. It has some good songs. But you have all you need in the first post in the "thwead" (hint: child's pronunciation).

So it's WMGV in the New Bern market.

Really, is it that hard to just say so? Every other poster on this site seems to be able to just tell us what the callsign of the station they're talking about is. Please do the same in the future.

You were the one that said to respect my desire to not identify specifics about myself.

And no, WMGV is not oldies and is nowhere near me.

The letters are WZKY but I would appreciate it if no one would comment on the site about it.

I completely respect your personal privacy.

But this is a discussion site about radio stations, all of which broadcast to the public. It's very hard to have a conversation about radio stations when we don't know what stations we're talking about.

You do see the distinction there, right?

Knowing what you like, I'm not sure you will like it that much
We'll see. I like a lot of stuff, so long as it's not that new gangster rap stuff (as I've said elsewhere, I don't mind the good, clean hip hop of the 70s and 80s) or new, hyperproduced pop which sounds artificial and off key.

Oh, well, then you should like this station.
