For months (many months) I've been looking for "a pulse" on HD-2 in markets where such is offered (aside from the usual NPR suspects)... In fact - I've been looking for a pulse on HD-Radio period. Just this morning, I received info from sources in the Windy City that such DOES EXIST. We've been searching for a "buzz" (in the case of the stream to be illuminated - a more proper term would be - "looking for DRAMA") in the re-con of an HD-2 stream by the broad public. 'Seems it has FINALLY HAPPENED! CC's WCKS (Chicago) recently began an HD-2 stream "Pride FM" (a GAY-themed radio outlet featuring dance CHR and "club music" along with the expected "image line rhetoric") within its HD IBOC transmission. It was reported to me by Chicago sources that the "Pride FM" HD-2 stream is a "big hit"!
"Once unnoticed BA Receptors are flying off the shelves at obscure audio salons in the Halstead/Boystown neighborhood, and electronics outlets can't meet the demands for ascetically-pleasing amplified indoor FM antennas." OH MY... All this in a town where "penetration" is an issue in the "concrete canyon" called "The Loop". Did someone "jack up" the IBOC power, or is this a "build it and they will come" thing? Pardon all the radio-related "puns" 8)
This is a CC endevor (wonder if the far-right Mayes family knows about the 103.5 IBOC modem use in Chi-Town)? Could it come to Cincy next - I know CC Chas-Town can hardly wait. :
Actually, "hetro" dance fans will like this service, and the imaging is very "interesting" - you can listen on the net, so check it out. I like the promise of "alternative service" from the "corporates" on IBOC HD-2... But what do you think "PRIDE" is all about - and where could it be heading (pardon the pun, again)?... NO "cultual disposition" here - 'just want to know what you folks are thinking? Are the IBOC folks getting a "W**dy" over this?
