Do you go out of your way to listen to anyone on-air in Atlanta?

I've had satellite since it's inception so for me, I don't normally listen to morning radio in Atlanta. Every now and then I'll flip over to the Regular Guys or Mayhem but outside of mornings??? No one...

With Howard, Opie & Anthony, Dan Patrick, Colin, Ron and Fez, etc... no reason to listen to local guys.

Who is worthy of a listen in Atlanta? Do you guy out of your way to listen to anyone local?

I go out of my way to listen to the CBS radio newsreport at the top of the hour on AM1690 - The Voice of the Arts.

I also try to check out the entertainment news on the :40s on the Beat in the morning.

In terms of Atlanta, no, there is no one I really try to listen to. Wil Pendarvis, Toucher, Leslie Fram, Kimmer... all gone.

Do you see anywhere in my profile or on my tee-shirt where it says: "Winner of the Comedian of the Year" award?

Yes Steak Tips Saturday morning on 790 the Zone. A must listen it an orgy of fonnd info presneted as only Steak Shapiro can with droll forming ion the xorner of his mouth. Bon Appetit.

From 7am til noon on Saturdays WALR 104.7 FM (Kiss 104) has a DJ that I started listening to in 1993 named Youngblood. He is funny and I love hearing the old songs. Reception isn't too great in my home (Gwinnett) but I can pick it up easily in my car. I also like 9-10 pm Sundays on project 96.1 the Punkrock show. Then I usually catch Little Steven's Underground Garage on Dave FM 92.9. I didn't hear it last Sunday so I hope it hasn't been canceled. That is about it though, not so much on the other shows unless they are giving away something that I want to win.

Still on the air:
Mara Davis
Chris Domino and Nick Cellini (only when Brisket is gone)
Youngblood
Rogene Bailey
Margot Smith's DAVE After Tomorrow

Gone but not forgotten:
Mal Murray (WRAS - Radio Birdman Show)
Rev. Andy (WRAS - PsychoBilly Freakout)
Zakk Tyler (WZGC - mornings)

I make sure I catch The CBS World News Round Up on WCFO/WMLB. I enjoy Mike Bell and David Pollack on 790 The Zone and usually start my commute home there. I still wish a station would give Jimmy Baron a morning time slot and make the drive to work a little more interesting.

I've had satellite radio in my car for about 3 years now and the ONLY terrestrial radio I listen to is 90.1 (WABE-FM) in the mornings and evenings for the news and financial reports.

To me, the personality on a music station is as important as the music, and when deciding what to listen to, I take the personality into account, especially in the morning. But the one personality on a music station who really stands out above the music is Mara Davis in my opinion. I go more "out of my way" to listen to her than to the other very good personalities in Atlanta radio.

Also, one weekend specialty show draws me in, Youngblood on Kiss 104.1. It's not that he's a good jock; he's not. But he's different and fun, and he plays stuff that no one else in the universe plays.

I am a loyal listener of The Bert Show and usually have them on in the mornings as I fade in and out of sleep.

Sometimes I'll record the show from my FM/MP3 player and listen to parts later on in the day.

So I guess that is going out of the way.

If I'm in a car without my XM I catch Neal Boortz. Saturday night jazz on 90.1.

I miss Rev. Andy's rockabilly shows.

Since finally getting an iPod six months ago, I'm weaned almost totally from Atlanta radio except for some weekend programming. However, my question now has become, can anyone recommend an FM transmitter device to enable me to listen to the iPod in the car? There are so many mixed reviews that seem based on particular geographic areas. TIA for any experience-based suggestions.
