Why don't Star1007 change their name to jackfm since now they are playing 70s music they are trying their best to keep their listeners but bobfm beats them anyway.
______________

BOB? JACK?

Really, the name doesn't matter as much as the product and marketing.
Most in the Pittsburgh don't give a hoot (much less even know) about Jack stations elsewhere, so it's not like naming it Jack tomorrow will give it any more local credibility or sizzle than it had before.

Then why don't they just change there name to Mix1007 the best mix of the 70s through today. Since star1007 says that they are pittsburgh's best vareity from the 80s through today. But why play 70s music?
______________

I think what Star is trying to do is a taste test. Throw one or two 70's song an hour and see if it works. Heck other radio stations do the same thing. When 3WS use to say we play the greatest hits of the 60's and 70's, they were playing 80's hits as well.

I'd rather Star play NEWER music rather than lean towards even older stuff! This morning they actually played two new songs. James Blunt "You're Beautiful" and "Ever The Same" by Rob Thomas. All within the same hour! I almost had a heart attack!

Yea... i know that. But bobfm plays those two songs too. And does not make a difference when they play them.
______________

BOB? JACK?

but the fact it's named Bob or Jack or Sue or Star doesn't matter- to the listeners, they either like it or they don't. The greatest name in the world won't make a lousy product better, nor will a so-so name drag down a great product.

Jack doesn't mean (pardon the pun) jack to people who live in Pittsburgh. It only means something to people where Jack stations exist.
