Does anybody know where to find out whos worked at one station only the longest?

HEy, Genesee Joe here, Heres my question. I've been on air at 96.9 WOUR for 17 years as of this spring. Although i've worked on other stations in our cluster, I've always been on WOUR. Lengthy stays are normal here, Jerry krause was here for 26 or more years. We have had alot of 15 plus year people. I'm the last one left from that group of jocks . I'm just wondering whos worked on air at one station for a long time.Has anybody else been on air at one station for a long time as well? let me know. Thanks. ???

Re: Does anybody know where to find out whos worked at one station only the long

Here are some people I could think of... sorry I don't have exact dates for everyone.
They may not all match your tenure, but in today's climate, anything more than a few years is commendable!

In Utica:
  • WFRG - Matt Herkimer will celebrate 21 years along with the station on June 1st
  • WIBX - Jim Rondenelli has been there longer than I can remember
  • Various - Mimi Griswold has been doing the "Blue Moon Cafe" for a very long time, but I'm not sure how long -- or if it counts since the show moved from WRCK to WOUR and/or because she's technically in Syracuse.
  • WBUG - Hasn't Dave Silvers been there doing mornings for a really long time?
  • WSKS/WSKU - Even though he isn't full-time anymore, it seems like Kenny the Promo Guy has been there for a pretty long time.

In Syracuse:
  • Obviously, Mimi again - where Blue Moon has been on TK 99/105 for a very long time, and hasn't changed stations (as far as I know)
  • Same stations - Gomez from the Gomez & Dave show... he stuck it out even when Dave left for his stint in... (Denver?) a few years back
  • WNTQ -Ted & Amy celebrated 20 years together as a morning team last November
  • WRVO - John Hurlbutt retired in March after spending his entire 40-year career there
  • WSYR - Morning host Joe Galuski has been at the station 21 years (note that link is from April 08). And I don't have specifics, but I think Jim Reith has been there pretty long too... before he started hosting afternoons, he was the ND.
  • WYYY - Kathy Rowe has been there since the 94 Rock days - which puts her start date prior to 1983, when the station became Y94
  • WAQX - Alexis was there for 17 years before she was let go in February
  • WBBS - As far as I know, Ron & Becky have been on mornings since launch (either 1993 or 1996, I have conflicting sources in my research). Ron's been sidelined for quite some time due to complications following back surgery, but is still expected to return "someday" as far as I know. Even if he doesn't, Becky's still been there throughout.

My apologies to anyone I may have forgotten... just kinda going through names as they popped into my head, and it's kinda late, so my brain is getting tired. :)

Thanks, I am just wonderin' where I stand. I know people have been in the biz for way longer I'm actually thinkin' about on-air at one station the entire time. Dave frisina had almost 25 at 95x, He just told me today about of course Jerry Krause and John? from Rochester.
Over the years I did stints at KOOL 93.5, then 93.5 the river(miss this station) & even as Freddie Millers sidekick on the sports bar & grill on Sports Stars for a year. Then Freddie got backstabbed by Brian delaney. Let me tell ya that was a personal thing and freddie got screwed big time. Any way im just interested in length of time at one station.

Re: Does anybody know where to find out whos worked at one station only the long

Hey Genesee Joe....Delaney obviously burned many people besides Fred Miller, but it was the best thing that could have ever happened. Fred is very successful with his 3-5-PM Sports Talk show on News Radio 950-WIBX, his news paper My Hometown Sports, and website www.myhometownsports.net...not to mention the recognition, audience and compliments he and WIBX get with their professional sounding broadcasts of High School and Utica College sports play-by-play.

I was also burned by Delaney but in a different fashion. I notice he has been back in the area trying to sell some medical magazine or booklet with his son. No one must trust him where he moved too or he could sell it where he lives. Obviously he feels he can con the people in our area.

Anyway, keep up the great on air work. I listen to you often and enjoy your show very much. I also like the music mix on WOUR compared to the Clear Channel Days.

Re: Does anybody know where to find out whos worked at one station only the long

As far as I know, everyone I listed are/were all listed for being that long at just one station.

Or did you mean one station for their entire career? If that's the case, then that definitely narrows my list down quite a bit -- because there are many people who did work at other stations before they got to their present jobs. And as for the others, I can't say I know their personal histories well enough to attest to whether they've been at other stations in the past.

John Hurlbutt stands out as the only definite, one-station-career man, at 40 years.

According to this article, 93Q's Amy Robbins did work at another station for about a year before she began her long run at 93Q. The way the article is worded though, it's not clear if Ted worked anywhere else first -- but he did mention he was at 93.1 doing afternoons before the format changed to CHR.

My thanks to Scott Fybush, who e-mailed me off-board to inform me that WBBS was, in fact, born in 1993, not 1996 -- though that might be irrelevant since we know Ron Bee definitely worked at other stations including the legendary WOLF decades earlier. Not sure about Becky Palmer's history prior to WBBS.

Those are all Syracuse though... so Joe, I think you very well may be the winner for Utica-Rome.

Re: Does anybody know where to find out whos worked at one station only the long

Im pretty sure Ted Long is your winner Joe in Syracuse. He was on 93.1 for almost Ten years with Dave Laird before Amy came along. Ted worked on 93.1 when it was an a/c format, pretty much full time. He may have been on WNDR and the FM station across the hall (Cant remember the call letters) before 94 Rock. I also worked with Amy when she was an intern at 102.5 before she was working at Q.

Hey thanks for all the replies. It seems like 17 years has zipped by. Adman was right on with the Fred Miller response. I have to catch up with Fred I haven't seen him in a while. I was the comic relief on the Bar & Grille.
Now, lemme tell ya just one example: Fred, Eddie Obrien & myself attended the Notre Dame fundraiser/dinner the year that Bill Raftery guested. Durring the cocktail hour, all three of us were swamped by people wanting to know how to throw money at highschool sports. It was like the crowd was split into 3 groups; guys I knew and intrtoduced to Fred & Eddie O or Guys Eddie/Fred knew and introduced to us. The amount of advertisers willing to get behind their kids highschool games being on the air was nuts. I didnt know how much of an interest their was. And we did lots of hs sports. Look at the way Eddie owns Rome sports. We were all about local kids Both high school & college. It was LOCAL! And people were listening to it.
SO that being said & coupled with the fact that we had at least 20 regular callers a week plus at least 3to 5 new people/semi regualrs every day and actually had some increase in numbers & the listeners who I personally brought over with me(ok so they were listening to see how inept I could get with my sports knowledge other than baseball). Makes one wonder how anybody with the best intentions for a cluster they managed could possibly let Fred go. You cant give good reason. Freds sucsess at WIBX & the Hometown sports just goes to show how stupid & just plain wrong C.C & B.D were. Ok now why did I get int that.........I lost my point,

HEY!!! speaking of Eddie O'brien! I just ran into him here at the station and he told me about his tenure. He's been on air at WRNY since 1973. That includes 4 different owners!I like that guy despite his being a red sox fan:)!

Bruce Arnold has been with WCCM (1110 Salem NH) for 43 years.
Fred Caruso has been with WFTN (94.1 Franklin NH) for 31 years.
Both are still there. Amazing.
