Does anyone enjoy the Planet Mikey Show ?

You are misusing the term "Payola". Payola is when a person pays a radio station or employee, or gives them gifts, to promote their product... OFF THE BOOKS. When you hear the guys on WEEI talk about the things they receive from restaurants, auto dealers etc... it's a PAID agreement. They don't talk about Dunkin Donuts every morning because they really like Dunkin Donuts and because they're a sponsor.. they talk about Dunkin Donuts because they've been paid to do so. It's a live, un-scripted commercial.

Whether it's on or off the books is irrelevant in the present context. It's perfectly legal as long as it's disclosed on the air. Being off the books probably puts it in violation of state and/or federal statutes relating to commercial bribery, but again that's irrelevant to what's legal on the radio.

I also hate the overnight on WEEI. JT is an a-hole and I hate is yahoo callers.

Well said...I haven't heard him in so long I forgot what a tool that guy is. He's still on?

"JT is an a-hole" is well said...yeah, that's literary mastery...

Short, sweet, and to the point...yes sir it is literary mastery

I was listening to the Baseball Show today and Mikey doesn't get enough credit. He does a good job of handling the callers and keeping the show light. McAdam is the knowledge however it would be a little stale if the show was all stats and info. Thumbs up to both, maybe the show is better with two mics!!

I love the Planet and all of its madness but felt a need to compliment EEI on the only weekend show I can listen to!

:)

Actually this weekend has been better than most. Once the Mustard and Johnson mess was over it's been decent. Wallach and Mutnansky have done a pretty good job today. And the Baseball Show was good, as usual. I still would like to know how much money they're saving by alternating hosts.

The worst part are the intros that take 10 years to finally get into his show. Is he still stealing his theme song from the "Gary Shandling Show" theme song from the late 80's?

agreed on that. All the shows on WEEI have too-long intros...
