Because they have local news at 10 AM on Sundays and brand it as “NewsCenter 5 Eyeopener”. The “EyeOpener” branding suggests a newscast just as you’re waking up. So it seems really, really weird to use that moniker at 10 AM when it’s already being used at 4:30 AM.
Also, why does WCVB have a 10 AM news hour on Sunday mornings when they don’t air local news at 10 AM Monday through Saturday? What audience is the station trying to target here? Also, wouldn‘t that make for a very long work day for the anchors? They have to do 4 hours in a 6-hour span, when their weekday morning counterparts only do 2.5 hours.
