Does WCVB think people sleep wicked late on Sundays?

Because they have local news at 10 AM on Sundays and brand it as “NewsCenter 5 Eyeopener”. The “EyeOpener” branding suggests a newscast just as you’re waking up. So it seems really, really weird to use that moniker at 10 AM when it’s already being used at 4:30 AM.

Also, why does WCVB have a 10 AM news hour on Sunday mornings when they don’t air local news at 10 AM Monday through Saturday? What audience is the station trying to target here? Also, wouldn‘t that make for a very long work day for the anchors? They have to do 4 hours in a 6-hour span, when their weekday morning counterparts only do 2.5 hours.

I don’t live in Boston but I do usually sleep in on weekends (i am not a morning person but have to be at work by 9 AM weekdays) so a 10 AM local newscast on Sundays could be attractive. As to why they don’t do it on weekdays I assume they are airing syndicated programming at 10 AM they have commitments to air.

All of y'all should ask WHDH why they do 10am on weekends in the same way WFXT does 10am on weekdays...

why?

Because there is no pay for play real estate or financial show to put in that spot

Because there are no network fed shows at that time

They have met their kid friendly E/I quota

They are already paying the news people to be there

Even more odd, you have 3 Boston stations airing local news from 10 AM - 10:30 AM on Sundays (WCVB, WHDH, WBTS). On Saturdays, only WHDH airs local news during the 10 AM hour. Ironically, Mon-Fri only WFXT airs local news during that time, but they *end* their local news at 10 AM on weekends!
