Gerry,
I've actually acquired quite a taste for crow the past few days, so I'll go along on the dinner deal. And yes, you did make the call correctly on this.
DJ'S FAVORITE SLOW-ROASTED CROW RECIPE
1 Each Medium-sized Crow (ask your butcher to leave feathers on)
1 Quart Water
2 Each Bay Leaves
3 Tbspoons Tabasco
1 Teaspoon Minced Garlic
1 750ML Bottle Jack Daniel's Whisky
1 Pinch Kosher or Sea Salt (to taste)
DIRECTIONS: Put all ingredients in a large stockpot. Boil for two hours or until crow is tender and feathers are soft to touch. Add additional whisky to broth if necessary.
Remove crow from pot and place in buttered baking pan. Bake for three hours at 425º.
While crow is roasting, allow broth to cool to room temperature. When broth has cooled, ladle a portion into a large drinking glass. Find large reclining chair and settle in to drink all broth, pacing yourself to finish drinking in time to remove cooked crow from oven. Place crow on plate and eat.
Serves one.
