Doghouse On 106.9 : Unbelievable...

Okay, I have to tip my hat to Doghouse Nation -- you guys kept it up, and I was wrong. I figured that, after all the false alarms, this was just one more fake-out. I apologize, sincerely, for having mocked you for soooo long.

Meanwhile, Darian will be on 106.9 from 10 to 3 p.m., followed by John London, according to the Mighty House of Dogs.

Nope, look again. They are updating the site as they go. Leykis now shows 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on the front page of the website.

Boss, where are you getting this stuff about the Doghouse, Darian, and John London? All I see is Tom Leykis on the 106.9 site.

Where is the love for me? I did say this morning that the Dogs will be on 106.9 and London would have an afternoon show.

Also, if you check out the Free Fm site, it says Carolla comin in Jan, when the whole talk was that he was gonna be on Live 105 after Stern was finished. So something is up there and since Alice has tanked, except for Sarah and No name, they could use a change too with some new blood. Not sure when this all will happen, but I would probably say Jan since Carolla starts then. I heard this info from a friend who works in the radio biz.

DJ, you are no more surprised than I am. I thought that the bridges the Doghouse burned at Wild had earned them a reputation that made them too big a risk for Infinity.

The question now is twofold: Will the Doghouse be a ratings success at Free (indeed, will Free itself be a ratings success), and/or will they behave so that Infinity will keep them around for a while?

Because it's hard to run Leykis live when there's already a local, live afternoon show (the aforementioned Mr. London)? :D

I gotta say...yes, I was wrong about the Doghouse and 106.9. But, aside from a few weeks before Adam Carolla starts up, they won't be in morning drive. They won't be the station's "star" personalities.

It shouldn't have surprised us TOO much. I mean, after all, KIFR's newly minted VP/GM was the same guy who plucked Armstrong and Getty off of a Sacramento FM morning show, where they were known as (and for those not in the market at the time, I'm not making this up) "Joe and Jack - Out of the Sack".

Yes, but his bio page still says 3-8pm. Before the change, what would have run after him... Hendrie? Local?

Much love, 007. Much love. You called it. Tell your friend that I owe him (or her) a bottle of their favorite liquid refreshment.

Me? I've been coughing up the crow feathers most of the morning. I'm hoping that it isn't a symptom of the bird flu...

The Doghouse mentioned it during the 9 o'clock hour, and Darian was on with them before starting her own shift.

FMQB has the full schedule at http://www.fmqb.com/Article.asp?id=137730 -- oddly enough they show Darian from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with that old favorite TBD ("To Be Determined") from 2 to 3 p.m.

Brad Kava has blogged that Penn Jillette will be placed in that 2-3 p.m. slot come January. Wonder if he'll be doing it from New York, Los Angeles or Las Vegas...

Weirdly oddball.

Re: 106.9 : Darian, London, etc.

I'll stick to KGO. It's a mistake mixing Hip-hop, rap or whatever with talk.

Didn't Believe, I told you so!

I'd been saying all along for weeks if not months, The Doghouse will be at 106.9 and nobody believed it. Even KM daubted the rumor. I sell the air time in this city and had first hand knowledge of the Doghouse returning to the air in SF. When my boss told me to sell nationals to Infinity namely 106.9, the buzz then was the Dogz are coming back. All you non believers needed to stop killing the idea of the Doghouse being on the air.

Elvis and J.V. are on a ten week trial because of contract stipulations that cannot be agreed on. Until the contract is signed, nothing is perm. Infinty asked to have 10 weeks to let their lawyers go over the contract and not allow any mistakes that fell into Infinities lap when Howard was signed to his contract. On the air, they (the Doghouse) will be held resposible for all actions and fines if any FCC violation is made. The Doghouse lawyers are trying to make Infinity liable for part if any are to happen in the first 5 year agreement of the contractual bargin. Infinity wants to only sign Elvis and J.V. for one year and count them liable for all charges that could be. The Doghouse lawyers are confident that Infinity will will agree to the terms and the Doghouse will be signed for a full 5 year 25 million dollar deal with affiliate stations across the US. Yes, that means SYNDICATION FOR THE DOGHOUSE!

Are you gonna be OK with that? Will your heart hold up? Should we send doctors?

Frankly, good for them if they land on 106.9 or 105.3 permanently or wherever they end up. But even Infinity appears skittish about them (per your own information, if it's indeed correct). And I'm not sure I can handle a radio world which pays these guys $25 million. ;)

Gerry,

I've actually acquired quite a taste for crow the past few days, so I'll go along on the dinner deal. And yes, you did make the call correctly on this.

DJ'S FAVORITE SLOW-ROASTED CROW RECIPE

1 Each Medium-sized Crow (ask your butcher to leave feathers on)
1 Quart Water
2 Each Bay Leaves
3 Tbspoons Tabasco
1 Teaspoon Minced Garlic
1 750ML Bottle Jack Daniel's Whisky
1 Pinch Kosher or Sea Salt (to taste)

DIRECTIONS: Put all ingredients in a large stockpot. Boil for two hours or until crow is tender and feathers are soft to touch. Add additional whisky to broth if necessary.

Remove crow from pot and place in buttered baking pan. Bake for three hours at 425º.

While crow is roasting, allow broth to cool to room temperature. When broth has cooled, ladle a portion into a large drinking glass. Find large reclining chair and settle in to drink all broth, pacing yourself to finish drinking in time to remove cooked crow from oven. Place crow on plate and eat.

Serves one.

Don't hurt your arm too much patting yourself on the back. You also said that the Doghouse would be on in the mornings on 106.9 on a CHR format. Afterwards, when Hot Talk was the format you said they would be on in the afternoons with Mancow in the morning on 106.9. Throw enough s.... at the wall and something will stick.

That goes along with about a dozen other rumors Doghouse fans (or the Doghouse themselves) have floated here over the last 1/2 year. Anyone remember the one where they were replacing Stern on KITS last July and being syndicated around the country?

I'm sticking with this is a tryout in case another position at Infinity opens up.

And, could you point out the West Coast morning shows that are syndicated throughout the U.S.?
