Dori Monson's off Seahawks broadcasts for transphobic tweet

Twitter gets a lot of celebrities and media figures in trouble.

If I were the Jack over at Twitter, and saw that comment from POTUS which he refuses to call his Twitter account-Twitter, but instead just social media? I'd suspend his account. The use of the brand name is revenue. If a user, any user, were to publicly demean or refuse to use the brand name of the product which he exploits, then he's technically violated the terms of use.

Kicking the Loud-Mouth in Chief off his primary way of communicating with voters two weeks before the election? That would REALLY hurt.

Don't bet your retirement savings on that happening.

That also would be the LAST thing the Biden campaign would want, as it would further feed the "deep state" argument, further mobilize Trump's base, and conceivably could push several states now trending Biden right back into the Trump column.

And this has what to do with Dori Monson?

Why should the head of Twitter demand that any Twitter user refer to the medium by its brand name? The fact that tweets come from Twitter are apparent on every tweet I've seen. You either get the tweets off the Twitter webpage, or open the Twitter app on your phone. Besides, Twitter must make some money off of Trump, even if it's from the use of the brand name when tweets are mentioned in the national news. Trump also has about 20 million more followers than people who voted for him in 2016 -- about 87 million people. That's a lot of data to mine.

As for Dori, like I said, posting statements on social media are always a double edged sword. Here on this forum we are mostly anonymous -- even at that, it's a good thing to be careful about what one posts. It's always a good practice to use care when posting on social media of any sort.

POTUS isn't your average Joe. He's POTUS. The fact that he publicly, on TV, said he "refuses to call Twitter-Twitter", then I'd kick his a$$ off. Again: Terms of Service. My bet is the White House would be calling me begging to reinstate the account, and I probably would eventually, provided that the account holder abided by any and all Terms of Service. The brand Twitter, has value as intellectual property. POTUS signaling to his base (Lemmings) that Twitter isn't valuable, intentionally undercuts the brand/company.

Gee, I don't call the Imperial Irrigation District by name. I call it "the electric company".

I don't call the gas company... well, whatever their name is (I can't even instantly remember it). I call it "the gas company".

Same goes for the cable company. The nearest supermarket. The drug store.

There is no requirement that I call someone I do business with by their proper name. And usually I don't. Nor does my family. Or my circle of friends.

Why is it a big deal whether Trump calls Twitter by its proper name or a nickname or substitute?

Oh, yeah. Mr. Ed is just a horse, of course.

POTUS was publicly upset at Twitter, because his misinformation and re-tweets were called-out as misinformation by Twitter. If I were Jack Dorsey, I'd say; okay Mr. President, publicly bash my company and refuse to call it by name? Then you don't need to use it, do you? Oh, maybe he does!

More people, including businesses, need to stand up to the Juan Peron in Chief.

Well back to the subject, the Seahawks pre-game is an hour old and Dori isn't there. So it looks like he's gone for good. Interestingly, they're still airing ads featuring him for 97.3 FM.

He'll be gone for good when the Seahawks & Bonneville make that announcement. Not until. On another note...unwinding him from all those live-read advertisers is a headache no GSM would want.

As I recall, Warren Moon was "suspended" from the Seahawks broadcasts when the Me Too allegations came out in the middle of a season, with Dave Wyman "filling in." Then the next season Dave Wyman was the new full time replacement. Never another word about the Hall of Famer... seems like that may happen here.

Yes he was removed from the broadcast due to allegations of sexual harassment. Actually, drugging and assaulting his administrative assistant : https://newsone.com/3763434/warren-...mestic-violence-nfl-quarterback-hall-of-fame/

He also was accused of spousal abuse back in 1995: https://www.baltimoresun.com/news/bs-xpm-1995-07-20-1995201163-story.html

Frankly, I can't blame the NFL, or any team, from shunning this track record of behavior.

Great article.

Crocodile tears. He got caught up in committing the modern social media-talent sin; sending out a textual opinion that involves, race, sex or gender.

Maybe Salem would pick him up. Their talent seems to be always in the doghouse when it comes to social media. He will fit right in.

When will it stop? He's obviously not a total baboon. He just plays one on social media.

People get drunk on the fame they accumulate on social media. It can be a destructive vice.

I appreciated he recognized the impact on the producers and office staff at the station as a result of his tweet. Too often those people aren't recognized, and I imagine they had to deal with a lot from his fans because of it.
