Dothan Changes

I seriously doubt it will be AP comimg back her and Broadway don't get along. Could be Elizabeth maybe? she is the one that has been knocked to part time at Kickin.

Maybe they don't, but in this market, it seems everyone gets along with each other if they need to. For awhile anyway. Seen it happen more than once.
Besides...I figure AP wants on a bigger stick. She can be quite persuasive.

I dunno dothandarkman. The statement by you that Don has been out of the country for the past month
sounds "inside" to me. Not that it matters....I have been paying attention. Carry on

Oh that. What's up Petals? No, man, somebody hacked into Mr. McCoys email while he was traveling around Europe. Everybody on his contact list got an email asking to send money so he could come home. Pretty sure it's true because I've heard it from about three people. As far as AP coming back, buzz is that they have some top secret female voice coming back that has worked there before. That narrows it down to about five people. Just thought it might be AP because of the top secret part and because I hear the wheels are coming off at TRP. Like I said, I've been wrong before. But I've also been right before! Peace.

Been contemplating your "stock terms" assessment and it makes sense. With AP returning with rumoured new studios for TVY located at
Country Crossings it leaves TRP with USD and what to do with it. Somewhat chaotic.

Rumor is they're going to flip formats at Kickin. Something to compete with KMX or maybe a Bob or Jack. That's why I think AP is making a move. That and the top secret addition at TVY. It all adds up.

KMX is one of the worst sounding stations in the market, so a format flip against it would make sense. TRP can put a true Top 40 with a focused playlist on the air and kill KMX. I notice that the daily show from Seacrest is not on KMX. TRP should grab that and put it on in afternoon drive.

The book that gets published in a couple of weeks should be interesting. I personally don't know why they would hire her back.....let's review her numbers from Fall '06 all the way till her Exit book at TVY. Fall '06/Spring '07 - Spring 08-Fall 07 12+ 6 A.M.-10 A.M. Goes from a 14.3-11.4. 6a-12m 12.2-10 flat. Kickin's first book 6a-10a (5.3). 6a-12m 4.8 .
Numbers at TVY started falling before she left. Listeners lost intrest and were moving on to other stations in the market.

An 11.4 share, her last numbers at TVY, are more than double anything they have now.
I don't believe TVY's slide was all her fault. Craig Cooper and Anthony not
doing the music, lack of guidance/focus, and a BIG push by DJR started the slide.

Her Kickin' numbers are irrelevant. Not as big a signal, technical problems, poor promotion,
distractions(read reality TV), DJR's strong numbers, and splitting audience with TVY have
kept her Kickin' numbers down.

Think about it. She is good for at least a 10 share on TVY. Add in Broadway with his guidance and talent and
a connection with "Country Crossings"(biggest Country venue south of Nashville with a lot of potential
ad dollars for your station) and it is a no brainer.

844 reads, this thread has made the front page of the RI. Some comments for the previous posts: wherever AP is there is internal drama, controversy and the wheels begin to wobble even when the ratings are good; in stock market terms, WOOF is a hold, TRP are a buy if the rumors here are true about the format changes on kickin, Magic's stock price is about as low as it could be and would be a 'stay away' for fear of bankruptcy except for the deep pockets which will keep it out of the courts so I'll give it a 'buy easy with a caution of widows be ware'; Preem is correct that diary placement in Coffee and Dale can also cause wild variations in the book and a wild card could emerge from 100 N Main in Ent; I also think dothandarkman is an insider; if true, Wendy is a good hire as was Broadway (talk about board fodder, she and Jerry and AP ........ oh the entertainment possibilities); studios in Country Crossing would be fine and would improve public interaction but will not help the equity line of the company since they'd only change or increase their rent factor and still own nothing that is building equity on the balance sheet..

Now a guess and just a guess. After the recent (OK, past few years) lack of success by Magic hiring former CC people they may have had good news over the weekend with the bankruptcy announcement of Citidel ....... an expanding pool of potential employees.

So much for my "no brainer" post. Guess I am the no brainer.

Give poster "ricky" the cigar.

Word just coming in is it indeed is Wendy

If this is the case and USD flips, where does this leave AP ???

Stop traffic. I'm hearing it is Wendy. Good call, Ricky. I'm also hearing that it's not Kickn' that will flip but 102.5, which makes sense. Kickn' and AP are apparently safe for now.

I'm pushing to get The Big Dog flipped to BIG BAND. We would keep the Big Dog mascot, but
he would be holding a trumpet and wearing a t-shirt with Laurence Welk screen printed on it.

I hear there is an untapped market for Big Band, and I want to lead the way.

Back to studying up on my big band era music....just in case!

Carry On...

Just call the "Swingin' Down the Lane" guy that does the big band show on public radio (wrwa, 88.7) and sign him up to help! Good show, really.

I'm not so sure about the tropical smoothie thing though. Can't seem to wrap or warp my mind around Youngblood doing a gig like Bob Marley ....ya know mon?

OK my turn. As PD of Rock 102.5, why would we abandon a format with no direct competition?

That get's a Monday Night Football..............Come on Man!

Dave

Well.... TNM if you have no ratings and you are not billing.. that would be a reason to change... but now keep in mind I don't know what your numbers are or what you bill so you may not have any problem.... I just know that Star station sounds pretty good... LOL

I love classic rock... did the format for many years.. just nothing like some Pink Floyd in morning drive... ;D

... and who is Amy (Collard) Pollard and why is everybody in Dothan obsessed with her?

Rearrange the deck chairs some more, kids. It's not the format, it's the exocution. It's more than a playlist or a wrapped van, it's philosphy. You don't, you won't, you can't...unless, you turn it all over to a real radio person.

I will be more than happy to donate my old "YODA" imaging I used at 97X, ROCK103 & 1015 WQUT (I think the imagers are part of the bankruptcy protection with CITADEL). I have "retired" being YODA and use MartyOMP at 933 KDKB. I would love to see the look on Lawrence Welk's face when he is asked "Who's your JEDI B)&TCH!? Just wishing everyone of my former radio co-horts in Alabama "Happy Holidays"! I miss all all of you, K.W. Keene, Brett Mason, David Sommers, Amie Pollard, K.C., Big Mike Casey, Miss Elizabeth, Jerry Broadway, Jesse Bailey, Amy D, John Houston, Stephano, FROGMAN, BUTTCRACK and anyone else I may have missed!

Jerry and Wendy can right the sinking WTVY ship. As for KICKIN what about a format flip to Alt rock like 103.9 before the ESPN flip. 103.9 was starting to pick up steam and I know alot of people were disappointed when the powers that be decided to make the change. I believe if done right it could be a money maker in this neck of the woods and would give the listeners north of ozark an alternative to the scratchy 97x signal.
