Double R from KISW/BJ's Show GONE?

Perhaps from other posts I've made you know that I HATE BJ SHEA AND DO NOT LISTEN TO HIS SHOW. EVER. I wouldn't be able to pick "Double-R" out of a line-up-of-voices. But I will say that his Facebook post (posted above), while lacking in some basic grammar, was very gracious. And I respect that. So, Double-R, you'll be missed. By somebody. Not me, but whatever.

Well that is why radio will never really die, there is something for everyone on that dial as long as you are able to pick your ass up off your seat and turn the damn knob.

Can't say I tune in much to that morning show but when I did I usually got a chuckle from Double R and that happens far to little in radio today.

I am sure the guy will land on his feet and do a fine job with his next opportunity it is sad though to see good morning shows scrapped and gutted

Okay so we know Rick "Dub R" Robertson is no longer with KISW and on his Facebook page it says he is soon to have his own show?

FB Quote: "Soon to be rocking my own show... STAY TUNED!!!"

Does anyone have any insights as to where he might land???

Also on his page he mentions "I was born to entertain! I love making people laugh... I love to talk about pop culture, sports, relationships, and whatever else is going on in the world today!"

Just wondered if anyone thought that KIRO was an option?

sounds like double R is gettin ready for his own download/podcast show for his fans, like the rest of em who get gone from the airwaves???

what about double R at KXRX.NET??

by the way, i checked out internet radio station, kxrx.net. though much of its music is prob out of my 45 year old fart, demographic interest......it reminded me of what rock radio should be, and used to be. wonder what kind of listenership, and support it would get on the FM?

meanwhile back at the seattle FM airwave ranch: it was a "KZOK classic rock party weekend". loved that steely dan set KZOK: do it again, reelin in the years, and peg. all the great steely dan albums and songs available, and thats what ya all get............listening to KZOK is like watchin paint dry!

Thanks Scott... Let me just say Double R has a free pass to do show on The X anytime he wants it even if it is to let the people know he is alright!

I am another RR fan. The show isn't the same without him, and the tension between RR and the Rev about Wheel of Fortune was hilarious.

The show isn't the same without him. I came across this forum while googling for info.
His work attendance hasn't been the best. I can remember a few times where he was late, and also not accessible by phone.
And the time he was gone for 2 weeks. Dunno if that was scheduled or a consequence, but BJ played it as if he didn't know what was going on.
As much of a great personality he was, he was not that great of an employee.
I'll still listen to him where ever I can get his media.

Joosh, you do know that 98% of what "happens" on Bj's show is all theater right?
When Double R was sounding stupid on a topic or maybe wasn't accessible by phone that more times than not it wa fodder for the show.
Not saying he may not have been late because knowing Rick as I do it is possible heck with anyne it's possible to be late occassionally especially in the radio busines but really a lot of what was and is done on the show is not real, it's to give the show material and the whole esthetic behind the show is that everyone else on the show is making the ship sink and Bj is the lone voice of reason to keep it afloat, he's said so in interviews.
That being said it works or them and the show is very entertaining, I will say that the show in it's current inception pales in comparison to the days when yu could hear Toppy laughing in the bacground and Double R...well.... being "Double R"
I wish Rick the best but he will land on his feet somewhere.

Well being a previous "recurring guest" for several years, I know what happens when you get fired by BJ, although mine was out of left field and out of the blue. I used to be the Tech Nerd for BJ's show for several years. I am a small businessman running a small computer and home theater company, and I will give anybody a piece of advice, be friends, be honest, but above all, do not sell to people who are in the radio, TV, or entertainment industry. It might seem lucrative, but I will tell you, attitude is everything. I admire the guys at KISW and I call many of them friends of mine, but my downfall happened when I sold a computer to BJ and tied in his TV into it at his "office". I won't get into particulars, but because I wouldn't respond to his voicemails on my phone in the middle of the evening after business hours, he got all upset and fired me on the air (not calling me out by name, but with enough references to give everyone listening enough indication who it was). Of course I find out about this at 8am the next morning so I will tell you that is not fun. I don't hold any malice against BJ, I don't have enough time in life to waste on being mad at people. RR was a good friend, and funny thing was he was the only one that was sorry to see me go, that actually voiced an opinion. BJ was just BJ. I purposefully have not listened to his show since last November, and then I noticed the RR was no longer there while whipping over to the station (I do listen the the station, just after 10am) and finally today decided to Google what happened.

RR added a dimension to the show that is probably lacking now, humor. Also, with the addition of music and the little "skits" they now do, I agree with the previous postings about how they have evolved to more of a "BJ and Steve in the Morning" type show than what it used to be. Rick, even with his supposed bumbling is a very intelligent and good person and I hope he has all the luck in the world in his endeavours.

To echo a previous post, you look at the ratings, things are sinking.

BJ Shea show in the last couple of months has gone from 13th to number two 25-54 and the last four weeks has finished number one in 25-54 men. It is his highest showing since PPM. Don't know if it is the changes on BJ's show or if it is the loss of Bob Rivers. KZOK had been number one and since Rivers has left they have dropped to 8th place. Like it or not, the BJ Shea show is top two in Seattle beating kzok, jack and all the news and sports stations.

You mean playing music in the morning gets ratings? What a concept!

Yea I think I will reserve any judgment until Bob River turns up a Microphone someplace. It is quite a bit easier to win a race when the reigning champion is sitting on the sidelines watching everyone run.

If Rivers comes back and BJ can hold onto the listeners then maybe all his changes worked and things are back on track.

Of course do we know where Bob Rivers will land, it would be kind of ironic if it were right on top of BJ and company.

They are just soaking up the disenchanted Bob Rivers listeners. In April, it will all be figured out...

How can that be when Rivers never played music on his show?

Well I wouldn't say never but it was pretty rare that is for sure... And when they did it was usually Twisted Tunes or a Spike and the Impalers cover...

I do think he has a point about Rivers listeners going over to KISW giving them a boost they wouldn't have gotten otherwise...

Oddly enough in the days after KFNK flipped I have seen a slight bump in our listeners
