Hate, hate, hate... ;D
It may be a joke, but it's a sore point for those of us who have grown up in the faith and know the sharks are a tiny minority of the "faithful." It's an annoying stereotype that doesn't fit most believers.
If you're tired of hearing about the "God-Channels," #1 don't read these threads (KKCM or KXOJ would be your first clue you aren't interested in the thread) and #2 post about something else. Do you know anything interesting going on at KMOD, K95, or KVOO? I don't, and I'm even less connected to the O.K.C. market.
Spirit is related to the bigger stations in that they are being a cash cow for a secular company that seems to be cutting its staff at the same time. KXOJ, I'm mostly not interested in, although them buying outside of this area was mildly interesting.
While I'm no fan of Roberts, I'm not convinced he doesn't believe what he's saying. He's not selling "healing cloths," and the charges haven't been proven (although yes, it looks bad).
Years ago I worked at KXOJ and yes I have problems with some of the things they did and said but I have NO doubt that they and those who work for them for the most part are doing it because they really DO believe it is the right thing. 97.1, 1550, and the stations back east -- sure, they're strictly for the income. But if KXOJ was in it for the money, why would they have stayed CCM for the decade when Love 98 was kicking their tail up one side of the dial and down the other? Why would they have stuck with The Kross for so long?
Either the Stephens are stupid business people (which can't be right for them to be at this for 25 years) or they really believe in the mission of KXOJ.
