Dre on KKEG

I actually saw Hall & Oates in concert back in 1983 on the H2O Tour....

That was back when they had G.E Smith and T-Bone Walk in their band. These guys would later front the late 80's-early 90's Saturday Night Live Band....

These guys stole the show...

Other Musical Sensations of the late 70's/early 80's who were doomed when they were forced to make videos, revealing all of their ugly, cheesy glory...

1. Styx...Had alot of success until they let their lead singer "Act" in the "Kilroy was Here" film..(I am not talking about the video for "Mr. Roboto", I am talking about this excrutiating short film that was about 15 minutes long that these guys did for the "Kilroy Was Here" album.....YIKES!!!!!!!)

2. Blue Oyster Cult....The video for "Burning For You" should've been called "Burned Out Long Haired Seventies Dudes with Trench coats on..."

3. REO Speedwagon....Kevin Cronin.....I do not think that I need to elaborate...However, they made a good video for the track "One Lonely Night"....

4. Journey....Whoever instucted these guys to run around in that abanded junk yard telling us how to go our "Separate ways" should be arrested...

MTV KILLED these guys.....

I would add Hall & Oates to this list. They were outspoken and resistant to make videos on MTV to sell their music. I guess they thought "I can't go for that (no can do)"

Billy Squire, prancing in a pink shirt to "Rock Me Tonight," destroyed his rocker cred.

And G.E. Smith used to be married to Gilda Radner.

I might be wrong, but if my memory serves me correct.....

In that Billy Squire video, wasn't he dancing around in what resembled a living room, and didn't his band all throw down their instruments at the end and dance around WITH Billy Squire????????

THAT was a truly terrible video. I am surprised that David Bowie and Mick Jagger were not in it....

Ugly Ed Johnson... Holy Cow! This guy is one of the reasons I wanted to get into radio in the first place. Back when KFIN was still THE station in the NEA. Ugly Ed took the time to make an hour-long trip out to BFE to make an appearance at a donkey basketball game I'd organized at my school for a fundraiser (I know... cue the banjo music). It was nowhere near the TSA for Jonesboro, but they gave tickets away to promote the show, and he showed up nonetheless. I had been interested in radio, and knew enough to know it was cool of him to venture that far away from the station and it's survey area, so it sealed the deal for me that I wanted to be a jock. Meh, I miss how innocent I used to be. :)

:'( that was moving stack! You made me want to get into radio!
