I wouldn't necessarily say they made it harder - they're just rewarding skill now instead of just really good luck. IMHO, it's better this way.
First episode of Power of 10: million dollar winner. First time he hosts a prime time Price is Right: million dollar winner. He's a good luck charm.
There were also quite a few big wins on the daytime show earlier this season. Maybe the contestant coordinators are doing a better job? There don't seem to be as many obnoxious contestants who have no idea how to play the games this season.
