DRU countdown

The past few days I visited with Colleagues and friends in Tyler and Shreveport. The "rumor" is still going on about Dru's impending dismal and a possible "flip" of format. The Dru rumor is shortly after New Years day,he's gone. They are keeping him on due to the approaching holiday season. The press about the suicide and his "bonding" did not sit well with management. One spoke that another talent is finishing his tour of duty back east and "may" replace Dru. We shall see if this bears out,if not Access1 is using the station as a tax write off for the year.
The format flip?Another spanish type format.

I have heard rumors of Access 1 flipping a station to Urban AC. I know this was rumored back before the Bull flipped, but the rumors once again are flying. From what I understand, Access 1 has hired several sales people away from the Blaze. Are they preparing for some type of Urban format and need salespeople who know how to sell the format?

One wonders what on earth makes Dru so valuable that they're keeping him around for the holidays. True that he's doing nothing more than performing as a cold body in the morning show (send him away and let Danny stumble through the show alone for whatever time KYKX has left in the format) and otherwise doing step-and-fetch-it scut work, but why is he still on the payroll after several months of speculation that he's out soon? If management was so displeased with the bonding/suicide debacle and other self-serving stunts he's pulled, why not go ahead and process his walking papers and show him the door. No one could sound any worse on the air--boot him and go to the Workforce Commission and hire day labor to fill his shift and empty the garbage.

Also--since he obviously knows he's a short timer now, is he doing anything toward finding another job (outside of radio would be in keeping), or when the time comes will he say, "This is so sudden. What, oh what, am I going to do?"
Hint to Dru--bond with the people at the unemployment office. They like that sort of thing.

As was once popularly said, "Don't touch that dial."
