sdradio.net loves to tease - how many times has he hinted JnJ are on the verge of coming back - but he's short on hard news reporting so I'm not sure about that....
If Dave and Co. are plotting a return, it is my guess that it is being done as the "DSC company," meaning they'll own the show and not whoever puts them on their station. There will be some sort of agreement regarding syndication and spot load. There will be a *lot* less money involved at the on set, with the potential of numbers of stations signing up for the show to be the on the come bet. DSC might actually be "on the air" in San Diego, without actually having a San Diego station. There is a certain former San Diego morning show doing this in Nashville without actually being on a Nashville station. I think it's a great business model and opportunity given the state of radio and the disdain for local, expensive morning shows that don't produce the revenue of years ago. It could and may actually work quite well.
If DSC were about to take over any of the local stations as a stand alone morning show, there is no doubt in my mind you would be seeing full page adds in the Reader, banners being towed around the beaches and Jack Murphy stadium, and huge hype o'grande' beyond comparison. The fact is that no broadcaster has the money to launch such a one off venture as was the case for DSC at KGB for oh so many years. It has to be a numbers play.
If I were a betting man, I'd be betting it has something to do with John T. Lynch.

OK so I was right. John Lynch was the sales manager at KFMB before he moved over to the "X" stations and DSC were part of Par broadcasting which became Jacor which became Clear Channel which wishes it had bought Midwest's radio stations but did buy the Lynch properties from Noble as Jacor. The connection is clear and Lynch was obviously in the thick of all of it. The guy gets his hands dirty everywhere.

How come I knew they'll be on Jack? I don't think the station will flip, the DSC can fit in with the Adult Hits format.
Again, I have been sitting back and watching the whole DSC drama unfold. Of course there are two sides to every story. But what is absolutely stunning to me is reading the stuff that their listeners write on Facebook and everything. They write hateful and vicious things about the station that created, and made DSC's careers, their fortunes, and their fan base. They make it sound like KGB itself made the decision, not higher ups at Clear Channel. Has KGB done something so wrong that negates all the good they have done for San Diego on the whole? They have what are considered some of the best radio promotions ever like Sky Show and the Chicken. They have traditions like the Halloween Blood Drive, food drives, and all sorts of community driven stuff. They even have a regular feature getting the word out on helping listeners in serious trouble. They created the Home Grown hour and gave exposure to local bands wayyyyyyyyyy before anyone else did in town. I know this stuff because I have listened for AGES. You know I like lots of stations in town, but man this station has been incorrectly and unfairly taken to task. It really pisses me off! And on Dave's notes on FB...he states he is "almost over KGB". Well you know what, I don't really think he ever will be, and rightfully so. Those call letters made an amazing career for that man and he made an absolute fortune because them. I hope he is respectful and a gentleman when he debuts on Jack. KGB deserves his respect. He may not have worked things out with them, but he will show no class if he takes shots at them. My very humble opinion.

Chris and Radeo Engineer...I hear you on that. But I guess what I was saying is the "station" KGB, not Clear Channel. The whole way CC went about layoffs were pretty brutal no doubt. But I just wish people would lay off them (the station). It is like watching an injured person being beat with a bat. Enough already. TIme to move on...I hope everyone is happy where they land and just be respectful to each other. It was just crazy seeing how mean spirited the DSC followers were. That was just the basis of my commentary.
Most ears don't care who owns what on the radio -- or tv. They are more aware of traffic and weather reports than if someone from out of town is pulling the programming strings. Most visitors to this site have the advantage of knowing ownership, engineering details, and other radio-geek stuff.
But your neighbor could care less of the tradition that KGB did (and other stations); they are the ears that want to hear Led Zep or Doors AGAIN.
The only HD for them is "Highly Doubtful" they'll change the station.

It's pretty crazy!almost 9,000 Dave Shelly and Chainsaw fans on Facebook.All other morning shows in San Diego are going to feel the RATH of DSC.Can you say Goodbye Carl!!!!!!!!There ratings are going to drop like A rock..Love the DSC!!

Maybe it'll happen overnight or maybe it will be as we've seen in the past when a once mighty morning team just could not do a comeback: anyone remember Charlie and Harrigan? Or Rick Dees most recently in LA? Or Jeff and Jer (oh, that's right they haven't tried a comeback yet).
