Is anyone else feeling some of the more mainstream material fromt this genre? and who out there can tell me more about this fairly recent, fairly new genre.. Does anyone play it in mixshows?

There's a dubstep remix of "Like a G6" that I found about a month ago, and of course the dubstep remix of "please don't go" by Mike Posner that was featured in the mix on Sirius The Heat. I forgot where, but I posted that a few weeks ago. I'm not so sure how big dubstep will get in the U.S., although I've noticed quite a few people starting to talk about it since about 2008. It's still big in London and even doing better than 2 Step at the moment. Whether "future garage" will be the future of 2 Step, I don't know, but I'd say that those doing the new future garage sound should use some dubstep elements in their productions.

Unfourtunately that annoying WOBBLY Bassline House has taken over 2-step... bassline house is so annoying.

It did,, but unfourtuantely on DJ download sights Bassline wont go away.

Dubstep has a huge following here in Grand Rapids, so much so we added a third hour to our electronic music/mix show called Club 104 FIVE ON 104-5 WSNX on Sunday nights that is all dubstep/minimal techno and it is VERY popular.

We also just added a 4th hour on Sundays (Monday 1a-2a) that features a different LOCAL electronic music DJ each week - from those who helped lay the foundation for the scene we have today to those new comers looking to build upon it. 27 DJ's are on a rotation.

In late July, we had a free electronic music night in downtown Grand Rapids with five DJ's, two of which are resident DJ's on our Club 104 Five. PLEASE take a second and look at the video of the turnout. (15,000+)

You work at WSNX,,,, I actually think your station has amazing mixshows,,, as does KQI that KDL mentioned,,, and the station is my favorite rhythmic leaning chr in the midwest... You also carry a Dance station on your HD-2 yes?? i beleive a Phusion affiliate.

Never even knew that WSNX existed. It only makes me wonder even more what in the world is WDTW doing... I know a place that could use one more rhythmic top 40 format, and it's definitely not Detroit, Phoenix, or L.A.. Anyway, the station looks interesting, so I will have to check it out.

Will future garage hit the charts? http://www.slicknfresh.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3766

In my opinion, future garage isn't as complex as old school 2 Step. There seems to be less going on. I also don't like all bassline, but I think some of it is ok, although I think bumpy 4x4 is better. As far as dubstep, I prefer vocal dubstep with singing rather than just the instrumentals or with british rap on it. All these beat styles are reminding me of how good it all was when Timbaland and Missy were still providing us with those late 90's futuristic beat styles, which, I guess you could consider our version of what they were doing across the pond with 2 step beats. I don't know how we went from 2 Step to bassline being the next in thing, but I guess for some reason, things that resemble a house style or pattern beat have always been more popular than music with break beats. Listen to how dance stations sound today and have been sounding for years.

Also notice how a lot of today's new generation mainstream dance and dance pop has also gone much more towards a house style and there is seemingly now less pop with breakbeats (similar to Jay Sean "down" or Akon "right now na na na") coming out now. Somehow, the house style inm dance always seems to win in the end while most things with a breakbeat are forgotten, fall from the charts, or just plainly go unnoticed. Look at freestyle, booty bass, 2 Step, and breakbeat - all have seemed to die died 80% more than the house style, although it all went downhill for a while in the mid 00's.

There are similarities, but I have to admit I thought about it and realized I was confusing dubstep with grime when I did the reggaeton and reggae comparison. Dubstep is more similar to 2 Step than Grime is to 2 Step.

So, when I was saying I prefer dubstep without rap, I was actually talking about grime, which usually always contains rap or a british urban feel (unlike dubstep that isn't as focused on the rap vocals).

"Katy B on a Mission" is a great commercial Dubstep song.. was surprised to hear it playing in Saks Fifth Ave here in NYC... Magnetic Man have a couple of good tracks as well.

I heard dubstep on Radio One bbc alot,, I imagine Kiss is playing them as well.
