E.A.R. Awards

So, okay. As a voice over talent I'm kinda biased, but I've always thought you need to have some good commercials at the station to keep people from changing the channel. In another thread someone else and I were chatting about a commercial that both of us remember, albiet not fondly, from 10 years ago. I record about 3 commercials a day, either for TV or radio, and it's about 90% drivel. But sometimes, every rare once in awhile, something new and fun comes down the pike and the E.A.R. Awards are giving credit where credit is due. Head over to the site and take a listen and ask yourself when was the last time you even cracked a smile at a local radio commercial. Definitely check out all of the finalists. My personal favorite is "Friendship" for Finnegan's Ale for Best Use of Copywriting. This is great stuff!

Ok the Typing Tutor was hilarious. :D Can you imagine trying to read that?
The Legal Seafood was also amusing. But as far as the rest of the winners.....

I know, the rest of the winners weren't my favorites, but I'm really glad they kept the link for the rest of the finalists in each category. The "Axe" spots are really well done.

Too funny!!

"Okay, let's try it again....this is Typing Tutor take 142..."

Nice cheap ad by Burger King... sounds like a station ID put together but talks about croissanwiches... eh....

TypingMasterPro works for me! That actually was a funny commercial... time to listen again! :p

I have one request for radio copywriters everywhere:

Please, for the love of God, NEVER AGAIN write another spot that involves a voice talent reading a script while a producer coaches him on the "talk back." AGGGGH! That is the most overused piece of non-relevant insider-only BS! And I swear I hear about 10 a day of them.. including lots of national work.

STOP! It was lame the first time... it's death now.

Dude, that is HILARIOUS!!! That reminds me of the Cingular/Verizon (I can't remember which) Star Wars ring tone sessions with Chewie. C-3PO at the end asks the receptionist "How long is this going to take?"

Dude! That's my bread and butter you're talking about. Please listen...for the children! ;D

Yay!...and by children I meant my Del Sol and the Neumann mic I'm saving up for.
