E-Skip 2013 Season

I know that when you get into Inyo County (Ridgecrest, Inyokern etc) that KOMP and KPLV come in weakly. But I don't know what you can get up I-15 going into the "Highway Stations" (98.1, 98.9, 99.7) territory.

I have been dxing a lot this year, logged stations in Florida, Cuba, Nevada, Idaho, Mexico, North Carolina, Maryland, and New Jersey. Hopefully we will get a big opening soon. I just hope that this season isn't ending early. :-\

Nice catches there, Jared. Hopefully there's still life left in the season. I must say, I was pretty happy to bag one of your locals...;)

What station did you log here?

North Texas 48 miles Southeast of Wichita Falls.

One of my relative's best high school friends lives in Lawton, OK, close to your QTH and right in the Wichita Falls TV market. Congrats on the Idaho log! Which one did you get?

Cool! I get KLAW 101.3 Almost everynight here. I actually logged three stations in Idaho. KTPZ 92.7 and KLIX 96.5 in Twin Falls, Idaho and KIZN 92.3 in Boise, Idaho. These were all logged on June 2nd.

Unfortunately I'm a bit too far to receive the Wichita Falls-Lawton market. Just above the 1500 + mile area from here and even E-skip DX over 1400 is rare with DXers (I've never gotten a 1400 yet either). Usually anything over 1600 is double-hop E-skip and that's very rare, while 1500-1600 mi skip is even rarer than that being between the single and double hop skip distance.

It's frustrating. The map was just showing a big a swarm of Es clouds well into the red past the FM band half way between Tampa and the northeast (NJ, PA, NY) and I could not hear a thing.

The only mystery station I heard for a minute or so which took over 100.3 from Orlando was a station with an ID of 'Magic 100.3'

???

Possibly CJMJ from Ottawa, they run a Majic format. But they usually say Majic 100 and not Majic 100.3.

Around 7:30 PM EDT July 3rd in Emerald Isle, North Carolina, lots of French language radio (Quebec) and New England were bouncing in.

In Tampa, I just heard briefly 'Eagle 96.7' where they said 'more variety, less talk'.

Sounds like a light adult music format.

I Googled Eagle 96.7 and found two stations going by that name, one in Michigan and one in Illinois but their stated format doesn't seem to match what I heard.

Any guesses as to what I heard?

One of the drawbacks of working at home for myself is that something like this gets in the way of what I should be doing. LOL
