Not only is the oldies HD-2 on 107.5 broadcasting dead air, but the point HD-2 on 106.9 is broadcasting songs at half speed. WTF???? Half speed? I don't know how that is even possible on HD!!!!

Sometimes the sample rate on AES input DSP based audio processors can get "balled up" and result in the audio sounding like it's playing at twice or half speed.

The first time one of my HD-2 stations had that fault, it took a bit to figure out what was wrong. In my case it was a power glitch with a bad UPS (a UPS that wasn't) when the processor booted up at a lower sample rate rather than the normal higher rate. I think the processor default was 32k and my normal digital audio sample rate was 48k...

You gotta love the swinging swirling twirling world of digital signal processing...
Audimax/Volumax or Sta-Level never had that issue ;D

I didn't know it was possible for a computer playing mp3s to just begin playing anything at half speed. That was strange.

I called 107-5 this morning when I caught it about 7:30. They told me they were trying to get the engineers in to fix it.

I wish they would put 106.9 and 107.5's HD2 on their main signal. Much better formats than crappy hits they keep cramming down our throats.

Same here, although I've noticed the Eagle play list has gotten better recently. I guess they went down to the record shop and bought some more records. There is actually a pretty good variety on there now. Not the oldies or classic rock station Houston deserves, but much better than the "Hotel California" at the top of every hour station a couple of years ago. I wish they would get together with the Arrow and decide who is going to be classic rock and who is going to be oldies.

I'm with bruce on this. KHPT's playlist is quite a bit better this last month or so. Actually heard Black Sabbath on 106.9 last week....and it wasn't even "Iron Man", instead playing "N.I.B." Now that was a pleasant surprise. If they'll just rotate out KISS's "Rock and Roll All Nite" and replace it with "Love Gun", I believe 106.9 would get its preset button back. ;D

I'm with you on that one. May need to vote Love Gun up during the 3:00 hour a few times.
