Easy 93.1 seems to be official folks....or is it?

Icycool - I agree. The closest thing that you will get to that is 979 WRMF. The Coast thinks they are HOT AC but considering their program director is afraid to add modern/mainstream AC hits of today (Taylor Swift, Michael Buble, One Republic, etc...), unfortunately their not.

Remember when WMBX was a Hot AC station in the early 2000s? They were very close to being a CHR, and they had a great sound (not to mention a great signal in both the Treasure Coast and Palm Beach County).

Scott was that Mix 102.3? I do remember... :)

That indeed was Mix 102.3. Too bad that the station did not survive. There was just too many AC stations in the West Palm market at the time. WRMF is just too boring.

WMBX / Mix 102.3, signed on in early 1997 as a modern-leaning hot AC (prior to, the frequency was soft AC WHLG) identifying as "your REM/Hootie/Melissa Etheridge station...no Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, & Whitney Houston" (ironically the station would add Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" & Houston's "It's Not Right, But It's Okay" into rotation when both became popular).

Core artists included "lighter" rock artists of the era (Sheryl Crow, Goo Goo Dolls, matchbox twenty); playlist also heavy on Lilith artists (Alanis, Jewel, Sarah), as well as some of the lighter modern rock artists (Gin Blossoms, Tonic) of the era. Eventually the station evolved into more of a typical hot AC or adult top 40. Changed calls & frequencies to WJBW 106.3 for a very brief period, when WMBX became rhythmic "X 102.3".

The former WHLG was orginally a class A, 3kw, FM licensed to Jenson Beach and was co-owned with WSTU-AM 1450 Stuart. WHLG upgraded to a 100kw class C1 after co-channel class "A" WGGD-FM 102.3 Melbourne moved frequency to 95.1 "A" back in the 90s. All of this happened around the same time that WOKC-FM 103.1 Okeechobee changed its COL to Indiantown and upgraded from a 3kw class A to a 50kw class C2, later upgrading to its current 100kw C1 as WPBZ. All of this, of course, was implemented to better serve Palm Beach which has the bigger ad dollars with WMBX doing very well while WPBZ is lagging way behind overall but doing "ok" in its target demo.

cox has snagged the WFEZ calls for 93.1

so it looks real kids sorry no party 93.1 :(

Those call letters - WFEZ - once belonged to a station I managed in Gainesville, Florida in the late 80s and early 90s. WOW - It's interesting Cox picked those call letters for 93.1 Miami.

When in doubt, flip to AC! It's one of the cheapest formats around! The only question is how will Easy 93.1 do against 101.5 LITE-FM, SoFlo's long-time soft AC champ.

So much for FM talk in SoFlo! :-\

you know this really sucks to have a second soft ac station but thank god it didnt go spanish cause we all know miami is 50% hispanic , but would still like to have a ROCK station programmed with modern rock and let 1059 do the Classics

Actually, it's the 4th soft AC station... WMIB and WRMA are soft AC.

It seems like Spanish and Soft AC have a monopoly on the SoFlo FM dial. :)

Actually it depends on your definition of SOFT A/C. I'd go softer.

WMGE is a hot AC; the other two are gold based and softer than most English language soft ACs.

If thats true then why does the ratings board have WMIB as Spanish Hits and WRMA as Latin Rhythmic???
