Easy 93.1 seems to be official folks....or is it?

Actually the first boomers are just turning 65 this year, not last. 1946 + 65 = 2011.

Thanks... you just made me a year younger.

Isn't it funny, the baby-boomers had all the best radio programming ideas and trick's of the trade and in my opinion never to be out done and yes, that of course includes Dave Eduardo!

Interesting to note that many of these songs would have been considered anything but ee-zee back when they were released, an earlier generation might have considered some of these selections loud and obnoxious.
I still do.

What songs that 93.1 plays do you, ai4i and vchimpanzee, object to?

I merely made an observation based on my memory of the time. Some of their light and easy music would not have been categorized as such when it was new.

I'm a bit late to the game here, but I'm only 27 yet I enjoy stations like this :)

Albany has a station very similar to this called "Magic 590" (WROW-AM) that I listen to from time to time... basically, both Magic and Easy are both gold-based soft ACs. But in my opinion, this music is more suited for AM radio instead... does Cox in Miami own any AMs?

Just off the top of my head, anything involving Peter Cetera.

I live in Chicago and listen to 93.1 on line and just love it. I wish our Lite station in Chicago WLIT would appreciate the way this station presents. I am so sick of listening to stupid chat by dj's that try to be funny or talk about something they have no clue about the topic only to fill in air time. I am tired of hearing about what turns on a woman or what size boobs men like and all that crap our station talks about. A station with more music and less talk is the best. I am glad to see its Jan ratings are strong. I hope you people in South Florida know how lucky you are to have this great station.

keep in mind that you are only telling us about your own personal tastes. Chicago is America's third largest radio market and has some top notch programmers. Amateur gynecology has always been a popular hobby.

I wouldn't say it's just his personal tastes. That station takes one of the biggest post-Christmas ratings drops of any station in the U.S..year after year. Although this year a station in Kansas City had a larger % drop.

I mentioned Peter Cetera. Only "If You Leave Me Now" has such nice instrumentals that they outweigh the man's annoying voice. Also anything by Journey. How "Foolish Heart" by Steve Perry even made it onto my station's playlist is a mystery to me. "All I Need" by Jack Wagner is another song I've always found annoying. I keep forgetting to look at the Easy 93.1 playlist but I will.

Some may wonder why I care since I'm not in Miami. Well, what I'm afraid of is that the trend will go nationwide. Dial Global has a great mix of music and I wouldn't want anything to mess that up.

That's easy how those songs found their way on the playlist. Steve Perry's "Foolish Heart" and Jack Wagner's "All I Need" were airing on the original soft AC stations back during the 80's.
"All I Need", thankfully, has never been on my station. To my knowledge.

All I know is everything David Edguardo said about Easy 93, Cox and the relationship to Lincoln Financial came to pass. He was right about it. I think Easy is here to stay. But yes, the Journey and Jack Wagner is a curve ball. Sounds great coming out of Micheal Murphy's "Wildfire." NOT.

Jack Wagner was on the soap opera General Hospital. He was very popular with the ladies. This song was huge 30 years ago. It was #2 on the Charts back in 84. Very popular song in South Florida at the time. It fits the FEZ format. "Foolish Heart" has to be a song that tested well. Never got much airplay in Florida.
Just to clarify, I've heard "Foolish Heart" on my station but can't recall seeing it on any Easy 93.1 playlist.

Here are some more.

"Spirit in the Sky" Norman Greenbaum
"Bad Moon Rising" Creedence (now that one I might accept on a country station, where I'm more open to louder music)
"For What It's Worth" Buffalo Springfield

don't know "The Afternoon: Forever Afternoon (Tuesday?)" but if it's by The Moody Blues I probably wouldn't like it.

I don't know "Miracles" but if it's by Jefferson Starship I probably don't like it.

I'm not sure what "Fields of Gold" is but if it's by Sting I probably don't like it.

"I'm Not in Love" by 10CC has this very annoying new age quality to it. Which ironically fits with the "soft" image, but I don't like it.
