Ed Stolz Purchasing Two Stations from Beasley

What radio stations does silver state radio own?? I never heard of them and being in Reno NV thought they would own station up here? But then again the only companies that seem to rule the airways here are Citadel, Lotus Radio, Americom oh and scottcom (which seems to be in the same building as americom)

So if Beasley plans on moving COYOTE to 102.7 after the sale, NOW will be gone? This could be good news for KLUC, unless Silver State goes CHR on 104.3.

Silver State don't appear to own any other radio stations. Is this the same Ed Stolz from KRCK-FM in Palm Springs and (formerly) KWOD-FM in Sacramento?

It appears as though Silver State is acquiring Coyote's license and NOW's format.

Yes. There can't be another Ed Stolz. Ed would sue them and make them change their name.

Anyone who works at these stations, two words to you: GET OUT! All the horror stories are true.

Anyone think he tries to add the Riveria properties as well to create a larger cluster in the market? Although KOAS and KVGS don't have the best signals, they could surely be picked up rather cheaply from the bank at this time?

The problem for Ed is Beasley probably got his entire bankroll left over from the sale of KWOD to Entercom. And frankly it seems Beasley saw Ed coming, in this market locally and nationally he certainly overpaid for the two stations. What a dolt!

If Ed finds out he paid too much, he'll sue Beasley.

Ed has a lot of money. His parents were very rich. I don't think he got a dime out of KWOD after all the years of lawsuits back and forth with Entercom. He's wanted to be in the Vegas market for a while.

He'll run these stations into the ground just as he always does. A very good hands-on engineer but is a hot head who, as a lawyer, loves to sue until the courts stop him as they did in Sacramento. Super cheap and he'll make his employees work as independent contractors. It's illegal but he does it anyways.

I just hope they don't mess up Now. I thought they had a lot of momentum going. Changing frequencies this quick after launch can't be good...

The announcement I got emailed from R&R stated the following......

Silver State Communications has agreed to buy Beasley's KBET-AM 790
kHz and certain assets of KCYE-FM and KFRH-FM in Las Vegas for about
$15.25 million. Silver State will also get the "Star, 80's and more"
format heard on the 102.7 FM HD2 frequency but not an HD frequency in the
sale.

Does this mean they plan to resurrect the Star format on 104.3 (instead of NOW) as that signal doesn't broadcast an HD2 station?

I'm sure Ed will do Top 40. He loves the format. I don't know how compressed Now is currently but expect it to super compressed once Ed gets it. He loves compression. So do I...

I think Beasley has already run these properties into the ground......I'm not sure Ed can make them reach lower depths.
You don't know Ed. He'll p*ss off every advertiser he gets...

Ed's a horrible person to work for. Take your chances in the recession. You do NOT want to work for him. I tell you from personnal experience.

Newsperson responds:

KWOD sold for 25 million and only 5 million was held back. So in the end Ed reluctantly accepted the balance of 20 million from escrow after exhausting all appeals. So Ed left town with lots of money and now he’s spending it!

This is a fascinating deal as it brings in a new operator to Las Vegas and who knows Ed may buy more stations.

The broker in this deal is certainly smiling.

Any ideas as to what Ed will do with the stations?

From what I understand, the lawyers got it all and Ed got nothing. Ed did have to pay all the fees since he lost over and over.

As I already posted, Ed has plenty of money and is a lawyer. His parents were very rich and lived in Beverly Hills.

Ed will do some variation of mainstream CHR. That's what he loves. The AM has got sports contracts so it likely will be sports as it is transitioning into. He'll end up being the chief engineer and likely general manager as he is at his www.krck.com in Palm Desert, California.

There is nothing fascinating about Ed Stolz unless you want to talk about people who should not be in the business. He is the worst of the worst. There is no one cheaper than Ed Stolz. He lays blame on everyone for the making of his own problems. Anyone who works for him will end up in a lawsuit against him or at least reporting him to some government agency.

I'm sure he's digging all the publicity this deal is getting him. He's been so left out of the limelight in recent years and been getting no respect from todays radio biz execs.
