Las Vegas Ed Stolz stations 104.3, 790/103.1 are going up for auction!

Application today for K276GX, KBETs FM Translator. Mod to move to Black Mountain

"It is proposed to modify the K276GX construction permit file number
0000194673 to relocate to a different transmitter site, and to change operating power and antenna
parameters. Presently, K276GX holds a construction permit for the structure in Las Vegas
known as the "Stratosphere". It has been determined that installation at the Stratosphere is
unfeasible, thus this application is submitted
."
Where they applied to have the antenna mounted on the Stratosphere was about 2/3rds the way up the tower. If you’ve seen it, that’d mean the antenna would have to be mounted on the concrete surface of the tower. Not impossible, but Black Mountain is a better site for the valley than being 700’ up on a concrete tower

I did see an antenna near the observation deck. I thought that was K276GX

You thought wrong again, Nick. Like so many other things with Ed Stolz, he never coughed up the money and followed through on that CP. K276GX was only ever on the air for a brief time from the KBET-AM site with a single bay on a 20 foot pipe. No antennas or equipment ever made it to the Stratosphere.

K276GX was on for over a year from the KBET site. For much of its time on air, it was one watt. Late 2022, it upgraded to 250 watts. Then it went silent at an unknown time in 2023 when it was vandalized.
Before it was on 103.1, K276GX was on 104.7 as K284CW. It caused interference with KJUL and was ordered to shut down.
