Las Vegas Ed Stolz stations 104.3, 790/103.1 are going up for auction!

And with that Composite STL the processing's at the studio.
Even with "digital" STLs you can run composite over them with the processing at the studio.
*with enough bandwidth

As soon as I saw the $20 Memorex boombox being used as a tx site monitor, I knew I was looking at another quality Royce International station. I’d be curious how the KBET site and/or KREV in SF looks. I’m presuming both are worse.

Makes me wonder if Crazy Ed ever bothered to get the main transmitter and associated gear off Mt. Potosi. If not, I don’t think the tower owners are under any obligation to give it back after this long…anything 104.3 related belongs to them!

The auction brochure says that the Mt. Petosi lease was included.

Licensed to broadcast from primary tower site on Mt. Potosi

KBET site is not existent, vandals gutted it.

KREV will move to Sutro Tower by December 31, when the lease on the Candlestick site where KSFB(AM) has its antenna expires.

Does that mean KSFB (AM) will go off the air?

I wouldn't mind it, as their current format is of no interest to me (incidentally, there's an oldies station from some place out of state that is also on 1260 (possibly either KKOO Weiser, ID or KYLC McMinnville, OR, I can't remember which) that I discovered bubbling under KSFB on the Pt. Reyes SDR one evening a few months ago, so if KSFB goes dark, even temporarily, it'll possibly open up that DX opportunity).

Digging through the FCC's AM Query indicates that KSFB's owner also owns the tower. ASR Registration 1053379
Gee.... Think maybe there was some problem with paying tower rent at some point in time? That's a hard decision for the Friends of KEXP, but I think in this case the higher elevation closer to the center of the city is going to be an advantage, even though it means giving up the higher power and its resultant building penetration.

FWIW - I was in the Bay Area a couple of weeks ago and heard dead carrier with stereo pilot on 92.7. So they're not really paying attention, apparently.

Apparently the programming is still being done by AutopilotFM until the license transfer is official.

I was there the week of December 12, based in Emeryville, and KREV was operating normally at that time.

Keep in mind the current tower lease ends this week.
Given that Sutro is a well-established broadcasting facility, with space identified on the lower part of one of the legs of the tower, KREV should be able to get up and running there fairly easily. And, if not, KEXP may be able to work something out.

Guess we'll find out next Tuesday.

Application today for K276GX, KBETs FM Translator. Mod to move to Black Mountain

"It is proposed to modify the K276GX construction permit file number
0000194673 to relocate to a different transmitter site, and to change operating power and antenna
parameters. Presently, K276GX holds a construction permit for the structure in Las Vegas
known as the "Stratosphere". It has been determined that installation at the Stratosphere is
unfeasible, thus this application is submitted

The rent at the Stratosphere is…stratospheric
KBET and K276GX were vandalized on an unknown date and the station was silent since.

Modifcation for KBET filed

"The Bankruptcy Estate of Silver State Broadcasting hereby proposes minor changes in
the KBET facility to operate non – directionally daytime only, to reduce operating power,
and to change the operating Class of KBET from Class B to Class D.

KBET is emerging from a protracted bankruptcy process, and at this writing is presently
off the air (an application for STA may be filed so as to restore operation). Presently,
most of the station’s equipment is either missing or scavenged, with all of the directional
tuning equipment stolen or unsalvageable, including the tuning units at the towers and
all the cabling within the facility as well as from the equipment building to the towers.
One tower (of the four) is damaged beyond repair. Thus, restoration of broadcasting as
licensed with two – tower directional daytime and four – tower directional nighttime
operation is unfeasible.

This application proposes to modify the station’s licensed parameters to specify daytime
– only operation at 500 watts non-directional, which will provide high-quality service in
excess of 5.0 mV/m to the entirety of Winchester, the station’s community of license
(see Exhibit 1, below). Such proposed operation of KBET will achieve nearly the
presently licensed daytime coverage, while reducing overlap or increasing protection to
all other stations presently impacted by KBET as licensed (see Exhibit 2, below). The
operating class of KBET will change from Class B to Class D upon the implementation
of this proposal.
