Ellen Rockwell is Back - On 1057 Crush FM 3-7 PM !

Can't wait :D

Wonder where Jason Keller from Channel 103.1 will end up... he doesn't seem like Crush material however. Perhaps when/if 102.3 flips this year (I think a rock-leaning CHR would work on that signal and would get better ratings than failing miserably to eat away at Jamz :)) or even 100.3 The Point (complete with a 100.9 or 104.9 simulcast) or a new Z104.9 (dumping Cat Country and putting a Froggy simulcast on 100.9 instead) :p

I would put the froggy simulcast on 104.9. Put "magic" back on 100.9, and put satellite fed "classic country " on 590, the same format that Pamal has on 1410 in S. Glens Falls.

Pamal really needs to go HD... I really enjoy my Insignia portable HD receiver (listened to WRVE-HD2 (smooth jazz) and WQSH-HD and enjoyed them). Doubt you'll see Magic on an analog FM signal anymore... it's too bad they can't put it on an HD2 signal as well as 590 AM (similar situations exist for simulcasting AM stations on HD2/HD3... such as KIXI/Seattle on KRWM-HD2 and WABC/New York on WPLJ-HD3 :))

Also, 100.9's signal is bigger and might be a better choice for a Froggy simulcast. 104.9 is one of the worst signals in the Albany market, and I think one of the main reasons the Froggy simulcast failed on 104.9 was because of the weaker signal of that station... Froggy on 100.9 and 107.1 would pretty much match the signal range of WGNA (104.9 is impeded by 50kWer 104.7-WSPK in the south as well as Chartock's 105.1-WAMQ in the east... 100.9 reaches pretty far for a 6kWer)

Great...more voicetracking in local radio. Like I said....they're doing to Crush what they did with Buzz, putting all their eggs in one basket (Mike Morgan) and then scaling back on everything else. Mark VanNess and Meredith in the morning. They couldn't bring numbers to Buzz, why would they be able to with Crush. And a voicetraked afternoon show....more of the same. Does Ellen even have name value anymore? She hasn't been on the air in quite a while.

Why would Pamal go HD when it is a failure? Consumers don't want it.

It's about time you figured out that 104.9 is a crappy signal so there's hope yet you'll figure out what you're talking about before posting a$$ine things on the boards.

You are so convinced Kiss will flip this year. Why did they just hire D. Scott as their afternoon jock if they are going to flip? Get a grip on reality, get an actual job in radio and listen to the programers you work for and then you'll be embarrassed at all your posts on here.

I think it's great that Ellen is back on the air! I am a child of the "Brian, Ellen, and Big Ray" Fly 92 and right in the wheelhouse of demographics for Crush. I think, if marketed right, Ellen's name will bring people to listen. Even if she is voice tracked, the average listener will probably have no idea. If done correctly, a voice track can sound just as good as being live. If you've grown up (or are now inside) radio you will probably know the difference. Looking forward to hearing Ellen once again on the radio (voice tracked or not).

Here's the thing about Crush, after listening to it for the past week or so, I'm already so tired of the music. It was great to hear all those songs again...once or twice, but in just a week, I'm over it, and have flipped back to FLY and KISS. Quite honestly, I'm not all that nostalgic for the 90's, and yes, I was a huge FLY listener during those days. Woody and Jim, Ellen Rockwell, Mike Morgan, etc. It's just not fun for any length of time to be back there.

D. Scott on 102.3 might save Kiss FM, actually (I would've gone more directly against Jamz instead of throwing in like one non-rhythmic song per hour :p)... and we need to face it: modern rock is dead in Albany (before you say anything, Q103 is active rock, not alternative) and no other station will pick it up, especially after both 104.9 the Edge and Channel 103.1 both dropped it last year :)

As for 105.7 Crush FM, I'm actually starting to get a bit sick of it, and I'd like to see it evolve into a Rhythmic CHR eventually (with a format more similar to WKTU down in NYC)... it'd easily wipe out 102.3 and 96.3 with its stronger signal :p

Is DScott the same person as Focker on the Edge? I'm confused at the several posts referring to this person saving Kiss fm. If they are one in the same, what is your reasoning? He was incredibly boring on zmr. DJ had more talent than anyone on air in the afternoon in the area and the station was still failing. Marissa is constantly stumbling on fly, Charlie sounds cute but out of place on jamz, I feel fatter just listening to Vito, Chad keeps it basic on B, I could keep going.

Good luck to Ellen, voice tracked or not I'm sure she will do fine. Don't expect local jocks to help kiss.

>>>Good luck to Ellen, voice tracked or not I'm sure she will do fine. Don't expect local jocks to help kiss. <<<

I don't think Kiss needs to be helped or fixed. Kiss continually kicked the butt of the Buzz, and I have no doubt it will continue to do the same to Crush. Check the local ratings....for a small station, Kiss is doing incredibly. I think having a local talent like D Scott, who used to do nights on Fly, will be great because then Kiss can have a presence in the clubs etc.

I listen to the crush online, and am adicted to it. My question is about the jock lineup. Does anyone know if there will be a midday or evening jock? Has anything been anounced?

Mark and Meredith Mornings
Mike Morgan - middays
Ellen Rockwell - Afternoons
Sugar Bear - Nights

Ooh, Sugar Bear is back? I still miss him on Jamz 96.3... after he left, Jamz basically took up all the dance-pop from FLY 92 (which decided to go in a Modern Rock-leaning direction while Jamz went Rhythmic) and went in the direction of "today's hip hop and hits". 2011 is turning out to be a good year in radio already... D. Scott on Kiss and Sugar Bear on Crush? :D

So, essentially, "Crush" is moving circa 1990s FLY (sans Woody & Jim) over to the 105.7 signal similar to what WCBS-FM did with the old WABC-AM. Will be interested to see their 25-54 Spring book results.

Mike Morgan is a friggin' Genius. I love Crush. Great station. It has alot of potential. I did hear it's going to be all voice tracked, except for mornings...I HOPE NOT.

Just think this talented man was wasted up in the North country, ever since he was put out at ABC FLY92 was under 4.5 for the longest time. Brian Cody presence has helped their ratings as of late. Hmmm Mike Morgan hired him back in the mid-90's.

Please don't voice track 20 hours of everyday, 12 hours will be plenty!

Okay, no disrespect, but Mike Morgan is no genius. If he was, we wouldn't be hearing the same damn songs over and over again on Crush. There's a reason we haven't heard those songs in a long time. They're not very good. And now to find out the station is going to be completely voicetracked except for mornings...that doesn't bode well. And as someone on this board said in another stream, voicetracking is an art...not anyone can do it, especially people who haven't been on the air in a long time. I'm sorry but while I had high hopes for the station when it went on the air, I don't think it will have much success. I hope I'm wrong.

I think voicetracked is a smart way to go for afternoons and nights. They are probably testing the waters to see how the station sells before investing any more money into the programming budget. I don't see a need for a live person. Actually, I'm sure Ellen and the Sugarbear still have other jobs and will just be doing it part time for the passion of it.

It's not uncommon these days to pay a part timer $5000 or so a year to come in for an hour every day and voicetrack a shift. Not a bad gig if you ask me.

As for the music, I agree. I'm hearing the same songs over and over, and I only listen 20-30 minutes a day in the car. Too much Savage Garden, NSYNC, and Backstreet Boys. Too much slow stuff. Not too sure how I feel bout hearing Savage Garden transition into 'Baby Got Back'. I don't know how much I'll enjoy it once the jocks and commercials come on.
