Elliot in the Morning gone from Rock 100.5?

Man is this station's playlist awful. The log from this morning looks like fifty fiery trainwrecks. No flow at all with regard to song texture. Sleepy songs next to rugged sounding songs. 80's hair metal followed by Twenty One Pilots or vice versa.

Perhaps WNNX will shift to alternative, but is alternative radio really in high demand at this time? Q101 in Chicago recently relaunched, but it's still far from a ratings stunner.

Seems as if WNNX is forever below the 2's, and occasionally only a few decimals away from OG 97.9 (a translator with already a lot of competition).

Of the two theories, a format change seems more likely based on the website being literally scrubbed. I don't know if Alternative is the right move though.

I'm thinking classic rock. Same as it ever was. Talking Heads. Same as it ever was ten years ago. Atlanta's Classic Rock.

Well, that would pit them directly against The River, a race they could never win. But 25% of The River's audience would be a big improvement for them.

Agree with Roddy here. Although “Same as it ever was” was WNNX’s slogan back in the day as an alternative… perhaps a classic alternative similar to 91X? Maybe it is as simple as the new-old morning show debut.

I would laugh my butt off if this "same as it ever was" is WWWQ moving to 100.5, with 99X moving to 99.7.

Lance suggested merely moving "99X" to 100.5 but... "99X on 100.5" or "100X" doesn't have that same ring to it. Otherwise it's doable, the format already exists and has an audience (one that still remains in spite of the 98.9 xltr being off the air and redone after the interference fiasco).

Would Cumulus put Christmas on the station with a permanent format coming after the holidays? Alternatively, what if 99X moved to 100.5 and Christmas went on to 98.9?

Cumulus hasn't exactly gotten traction with its various iterations of 99X on translators, nor have other players like Cox with classic alt on 107.1.

AllAccess agrees. They call it a "format adjustment" not a change, and it will begin Monday at 6AM:
