There is a message up on www.energyarizonafm.com indicating as of 5pm on the 31st, Energy AZ will become no more. Nov 3rd they will begin a new radio station at 9 27 am.

I will say I am sad but I cant blame them for switching. It has been a great six plus years of dance music in the valley and I for one will miss scanning my fm dial in plugging in Energy AZ. This station has provided a service to the valley by giving us a pure dance channel which is a very rare thing these days in commercial radio. Pistol Pete has provided many hours of entertainment throughout the years and I for one have enjoyed the ride. Even though Energy AZ will fade into the sunset at the end of the month, they hold a great place in the history of valley radio.

Goodbye Energy AZ, you will be missed

You can be under the Mendoza line for only so long...

Is Sierra H. finally being forced to shut off their KAJM translator
on 99.3, due to interference with KMZQ-FM 99.3 Payson as
"the Q" perhaps does a move-in shuffle?

If so, is Sierra then shifting the KAJM translator to 92.7?

Does the KNRJ format remain on 101.1? They do have a CP
for a move-in of their own (COL: Cordes Lakes) which will
put more signal into the PHX metro.

I suspect it might be some type of a stunt, but then again does this really impact the Phoenix radio market? The stations serves a very small segment of radio listeners and is operating on borrowed time in terms of translator usage.

As a listener of ENERGY since the very first day, its sad to see the station go. Im honestly suprised they lasted this long in a market like Phoenix. Ive got flamed MANY MANY MANY times on this very board because I would bring up the station years and years ago. I would do it all over again.

Energy AZ :
LOUDER HOTTER FASTER DEEPER HARDER

PS : They also had one of the BEST ToH's ive ever heard in the begining. Check it out at : http://www.tophour.com/audio/index.php?q=f&f=/Phoenix+AZ

Back on topic for a second.....

Even though I live in New York, I have tuned in to Energy via the web. The station was great, the jocks were great. It's just unfortunate circumstances (economy, the DAMN PPM) that kills another station.

Since we only have 7 dance stations in the country, any loss of such an outlet is a huge effect for dance music as a whole.

Thank yo

it's a loss for the 7 people who like dance music.

if the format is in fact drastically changing, it isnt commercially viable just because a few dozen fans like it.

Why dont you buy a radio station and run dance music on it Tony?

energy 92.7 wasn't dance music! ..it was crossover of top pop dance edits.

they only sounded like a true dance station when they were in the mix, weekend nights.

if they could've just stayed in the mix, spin everything, no jocks but rather guest djs mixing / programming their own set. ..with the majority of music not heard on any other station in town.

It's such a shame that this station is leaving the airwaves.

I've been a listener of Energy Chicago but when they finished up, found out about AZ Energy and have been a listener ever since.

There's another Energy in San Francisco but it's really not the same "Dance Hits" format of the others.

Could someone please record the format flip as I'm unable to listen in for the "Goodbyes".

Was posted on allaccess today that Pistol Pete is a casualty of the format flip and that Beau is asking for previous djs to contact him so they can be on the air one final time. Beau is staying on for the format flip and he said he has some interesting stuff planned for that weekend during the stunt.

Obviously it wouldn't have been around for as long as it has been for only 7 people. BTW, there isn't much out there that IS commercially viable anymore...the programming, the "jocks", the lack of creativity, the lack of balance, the lack of support for artists who aren't cookie-cutter...it's been getting worse for years. So, hat's off to a station that dared to be different in a time when I know all of you would never get bored of the same ole stuff, right? ...and hat's off to all of you naysayers who made such a difference yourselves (yeah, right), but dare to criticize those who did.

If it truly is going away this time, it's sad, stations like this and Indie 103.1 are/were bright beacons in a wasteland.

The loss of Energy makes Phoenix "just another radio market."

We can only hope the replacement at this frequency will be unique for the phoenix market just as Energy was for the last six years.
